Perhaps too many Märklin club members have, as I have, neglected ordering steam loks for the past couple of years. And, who knows, perhaps they've seen a down going trend in steam lok orders. For my budget, a Dm+Dm3+Dm, as Goofy suggests, would be a bit of a disaster and this even if I have two livery versions from Roco and I'm working on one based on an article in Märklin Magazin sometime in the late 1970ies I think it was. That lok will be based on Märklin's 3030 but modified to have four driving wheels and with three motors it should be very strong (provided that I can find a decoder that can take the load of three motors). Further, if Märklin spends resources to develop this Swedish lok, then there will be livery version in the years to come, so there is a real threat to my budget! On the other hand, I'd personally guess it would be a German diesel.

If it isn't a steamer then the V320 is the next best choice in my opinion.
As far as diesels go it's an impressive piece of work. I might even break my "outsider" rule and actually try and get hold of one! |

I am severely disappointed its not a BR58,I usually prefer steam over electric or diesel,I reckon those Landerbahn insider models would sell more

Ray, I must admit that that is the best picture I've seen of the V320, all the others made it look a bit of an ugly duckling.

BTW : which livery....the "airport" yellow/white livery ? Any special features ? That is great : I'll save money this year, no Insider model for me. Finally I'm very happy to have booked the Franco Crosti BR 50-40 + the 2 sets of wagons this year.... I hope Marklin one day will make the VT 92....it may be a strange model, very cute...( and not many versions are possible...only one or two, so it's a good niche for a unique Insider model...)

Thank you IC red & grey livery.....I find it less bad than yellow/white.... As there is a large windscreen , the lighting of the driver cab should be carefully done + plenty of interior details...

Stephan No Insider for me either, assuming M* are capable of getting this one out in 2012 anyway. I'm going through a "I-don't-like-pacifics" phase at the moment. |

if its a BR 403 I'm looking at it but the price most probably will prevent me from buying it.

It will be interesting to see if they have gone with this one. ESU bought out 2 diesel locos but not a BR 320 and so has Brawa, Insider members maybe buying anything that comes under an insider loco, perhaps there is also a hint of investment interest attached to it. John |

I didn't vote for BR 403/404 either. Insider Club is not strictly democratic, but the minority should have respect for the vote of the majority. That's life. Many era II and III models in the poll, and only few era IV models. Therefore the era IV got many votes (the principle of divide and conquer). This is not the end of the world as we know it and the poll will be used for IMHO at least the next 10 Insider Models. The votes of fans of eras II and III are not lost, their favourite models will come in the future. BTW: Never seen a "BR 320" - neither prototype nor model. Märklin made a BR 323. My favourite was "BR V 320". Life goes on, and I look forward to seeing it in one of the next years. If you don't like BR 403/404: be happy that you can save some money (or spend it for other things) and don't spoil the fun of those who like it. Don't forget: Era II steamers will also make many people feel sick - you don't wanna read that when your favourite model comes ... |

Given that NZ has a Governmental election tomorrow (Saturday), those of us here are well acustomed and atuned to having respect for the vote of the majority. I certainly don't have a problem with those who want to buy the ET403/Donald Duck/Whatever the Heck it is Called, that is their right as well as it is their money! And I hope they enjoy it, just as I will enjoy whatever I do or don't buy with the money saved from not buying the ET403/Donald Duck/Whatever the Heck it is Called. (Mr Google seems to think it is called an ET403) I also have the right to express my dislike for it, just as much as others have the right to express their liking for it, which some have done here in this thread. Expressing a dislike is not disrespecting anyone else, it is just stating how I feel about this particular model, which is my right in a free society. I'm certainly not intending to disrespect anyone here, and I apologise if anyone thinks I have. And as far as not wanting to read disparaging comments about a model I like, I guess that goes with the territory. Not everyone likes what I like, and in a free society they are free to say that! Not for me but we all have different tastes. Marklin know that many Insiders will buy whatever model they produce for them and it should sell well. Being overpriced in my view if it makes good profits then it keeps Marklin going.

al right David the elections are over tomorrow we can all go back to buying trains on monday well we could turn the duck into what the auckland trains from spain will look like in 2 years after the jaffas have had a little painting class and the photo I found and passed on the Alex who posted it up here has got me smiling its called weathering !!! did you catch up with winston might be an illegal candidate evidently according to their party rules a person cannot go on the list paper unless they are on a electoral seat first and as he not standing in any seat he cant stand which could make the next few days interesting so his party could get in and he end up out which would be ironic eh happy voting tomorrow regards old toot |
