O gauge Vs No1 Gauge

Joined: 04/02/2011(UTC) Posts: 24 Location: Wolcott Vermont		Hello I have a Marklin CER65 12021 locomotive ( No 1 Gauge) and a Bing Spiritus Live steam, (O Gauge}. I got them in Germany in 1946 and I unpacked them last Christmas, Sense then I have had a raging interest in finding out more about them. So far I've found out that I'm financially in over my head !!1 So I am going to try to maintain what I have, and hopefully find a bargain! Recently I found some O gauge track on E Bay... Looked like a great deal! BUT, even though the track looked like mine, it was too small for my trains. my track measures 2" in width. The track I won was 1 1/2 " Both my Locomotives run on the same track, which I assumed was Prewar O gauge. I guess my track is No 1 gauge! I would like to know for sure. Hi Jim, Yes, you need 1-gauge track. I assume, you have a CER 65/12921. The bold "1" means that it's a gauge "1" - loco. Regards Markus

Anyone know??? pictures attached Thanks One other thing that might help. I have a bunch of 0 gauge 3-rail track back in storage in NZ. Some time ago I noted that even back then (just like today), Märklin embossed the track reference onto the sleepers. You may not have noticed but the sleepers for the 1-gauge track clearly show "1" on one half, and a letter on the other. "A" for a curve, "D" for a straight. I can't recall checking if they marked it further for different track lengths because I only had all the same length straights and curves. Cheers Steve Melbourne

I notice on the catalog, the No 1 is 2 rails, Is there a designation or name for the 3 rail/ 3 sleeper No 1 gauge track?? and does anyone know if there is a No 1 gauge track available ??? The "1" or "I" means the track size one gauge. On "A" tracks you also find another number, usually "6" "8" or "12". That's the number of tracks needed for a circle. Old "1"-gauge track for electric trains is not really rare on Ebay Germany. Regards Markus

Thus, 16 tracks for circle!!?? also re your first response you said the CER65 12021, that the 1 (in bold) means it Was No.1 Gauge, The typing on the locomotive was all the same font Two more question, Did Marklin male CER65 12020 for O gauge?? And why is the Bing Spirituslokomotive, (An "O" Gauge) run on the same track, same size wheel and distance between wheels! Did BING build No.O Loco and rolling stock?

I used the bold font to mark which "1" in the number shows the gauge. On the loco all numbers have the same font. Yes, there was CER 65/13020 in the assortement. A look-a-like of the 1-gauge model, but smaller to fit the other gauge. The 1-model was 65 cms (25 1/2 in) long, the o-gauge model only 43 cms (17 3/4 in). If the BING-loco runs on 1-gauge track it's a 1-gauge loco. Bing did - like Marklin - trains in gauge 00, 0, 1, 2, 3.... Regards Markus

Read the notes on youtube but a friend of his in Germany literally asked him to give him a hand to dump the tables along with all the terrain structures, some of the buildings and some of the track and a few of the wagons. The rest had been sold by an Auction House from an Estate and the widow didn't want any of it around any more. So Andrea's shipped the tables and all the stuff including extra track and rolling stock back to California. He had Marklin re Nickle and restore a lot of the track, which looks like new, and the Croc is a replica that I know of. Anyhow Andreas rewired the layout, after modularising it and it had been on display and running faultlessly at the Hillier Museum for several weeks I understand, by the time I saw it and was asked to run it in late July during ETE's Euro West Train Show weekend on the Sunday afternoon.

We were wairing thos bright Red polo shirts and my wife was the only blonde in the group. Were you at Andreas' home Friday evening for the German Fest? Chris from Wine Country on this form was also at EuroWest with his "sweetie", I don't remember her name. I hope you are up this way in 2012 and we can compare trains.
