The prototype locos are increasingly being equipped with the Faiveleys. More information here ( http://homepage.hispeed.ch/unholz/page2/info.html ) and in the links provided on that page: The wiper visible in the picture is not the final version, and the coloring of the pantograph might also be subject to change. But perhaps there is a big price difference compared with the standard HAG/Sommerfeldt pantograph? It is not quite clear whether this is a temporary sale or a permanent markdown. A few dealers (such as Roger Suter at Meggen) have meanwhile reacted and have lowered the customer prices in their web shops. However, many (most?) other dealers are probably in a state of shock and wondering how to sell the models in their showcases that are now far too expensive. The move is interesting insofar as many customers simply refused (or were not able) to acquire a HAG GTW for something like 1,300 USD. Thus, competitor Piko met with an open market and was able to score a success. On the other hand, those customers who pre-ordered and bought a model in the very beginning and hereby supported the manufacturer's business risk must now feel like dunces for having paid the full price.

We should welcome the fact we can now seriously consider spending the money on a wonderful model, but without having to accept an overblown price. On the other hand, I can understand that those who supported HAG's business and "shed the bucks" could be pretty unhappy. Maybe HAG new management could demonstrate that they care by offering a voucher on future HAG product purchases for those GTW owners, to be redeemed at the dealer that originally sold the GTW. It would serve the double purpose of thanking the customers for their long term fidelity and at the same time put the HAG dealers back in center stage as many of them really didn't like the turn the HAG retail channel had taken. Just a suggestion... (FYI, I was at well-know dealer near Luzern two weeks ago and there was not a single HAG product to be found, as a result of a form of "HAG boycott"...: "Why should we stock their products for the customers to evaluate, when they go to the factory shop to purchase anyway??") Hi Stefan , would you mind asking HAG on offering some kind of compensation like a locomotive voucher entitling to a free locomotive of our choice or monetary compenstation for each GTW set involved. We are not going to let others have a special treatment of getting them at a much lower price when they are getting the same model that we have received and pre-ordered at full-price.

I've been trying to support him as the past 12 months have been tough on the hobby business. Not to put M* down, but I have become a collector of HAG engines, but I don't purchase duplicates of the same engine just because they have modified their paint scheme. This seems to be an effort to clear out their inventory of these models. I wonder whether dealers received some kind of credit for sets that they might already have had in stock. Many dealers were already listing much of their Hag products as available from Factory within 7-14 days and not "on hand for delivery". I opted for the Piko model because the Hag model was way overpriced. In hindsight, they could have done better with a "New Generation" SBB RBe 4/4-RBe 540 model or BLS Re 4/4 (425). The GTW makes more sense as a plastic model. Given the choice between a plastic Hag model and the Piko one, many modellers would have still gone for the Hag one. Same if they had made the Flirt or Domino NPZ (as opposed to Liliput-Bachmann). Regards Mike C

This is the most significant discount I have seen from them and makes me wonder what other stuff will get blown out. Keep in mind, there is stock 15 yrs old or higher in the warehouse. Many of the original 460's such as CIBA are available on the HAG site. I suspect there will be more blowouts but I am surprised it is current stuff like this.

I believe this is the first time I may have ever started a flame war on a forum, but are you nuts? This is crazy for a number of reasons. - It will put HAG out of business - it will steal a potential paid sale from a dealer (meaning of the second locomotive given for free) - HAG isn't giving ANY customer special treatment here. They are selling them wholesale, to dealers, at a reduced rate. If this were an economy of price fixing, the dealers would be making an extra 500 francs selling it at retail. HAG is selling stock to dealers cheap, not backstabbing loyal customers. The dealers can charge whatever they want. - Monetary compensation is equally detrimental to a free locomotive - Then to ask a forum member to make this request for you???? I don't see this as being any different than a car company selling last years model-via dealers- at a factory sponsored low price. Yes it sucks if you paid the prior retail cost, but one cannot predict these sorts of things and such is life. I paid $499 for a Marklin Amtrak passenger car set when they came out (and at the time that was a LOT of money for me) only to have Marklin USA dump them for $100 to dealers a few years later. My retaliation: I bought a second set for $125 at a dealer

Joined: 28/11/2007(UTC) Posts: 8,226 Location: Montreal, QC		If you already bought one of the models at full price, perhaps instead of thinking that you got "ripped off", you may wish to rather purchase another model (maybe a 2/8 instead of a 2/6 or a RM instead of a Thurbo) and think to yourself that you got both models for less than retail price (75% of the catalog price), so in the end, you came out ahead.
