Hi All,

First got into Marklins in 1997. Had 2 delta starters and delta controller along with other stuff. Never really got down to building a full layout and then space meant they all went into a box. Just moved into a new place and designed a loft just for the trains. Have a 10 foot by 6 foot table and recently bought two digital starters and a Noch layout. decided to go withm C track for ease of set up.
Am quite clueless about the wrirng for signals and lights.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi ratman15,

and welcome!

Out of curiosity: -Which digital starters did you buy? And what Noch layout? About how to wire signals and lights - actually depends on how your layout will look alike... Can't give you any real answers until I know (signalling that is). As for lights, they're usually much more simple to install. Normally only 2 wires, yet you might want to add some on-/off- switches for them.

Hi Fredrik,

Thanks for the quick response.
I have a 29858 and a 29470 with the Noch 81610 layout. the 29470 comes with MS1 which I have been using to run 4 trains on my make-do layout.
Have been told that I'm better off powering with the old trafo from 29858. Any opinions?

What's the mains voltage in Malaysia?

The transformer from the 29858 set is for 120 Volts, the cheapo 18 VA power supply from the 29470 set is for 230 Volts (with 1 A max. output).

There are two versions of the Mobile Station: the "little" one with 1.2 A max. output and the "big" one with 1.9 A max. output. So with the 18 VA power supply, you won't get the maximum out of either.

The transformers used for your Delta setup should also be suitable for the MS (16 V AC or 18 through 22 V DC will do).
Regards
Tom

So if you got a 120 V transformer with your #29858, then don't use it! Output voltage would be doubled, probably frying everything connected to it.

Equipment for 230 Volts must handle 207 through 253 Volts (+/-10%), so it will be used within its specification as long as your power supplier delivers 240 V +6%/-10%.
