Dear All

I have got an intellibox 650 (upgraded to ver 2.x for full mfx support)to control my marklin layout with windigipet 2009 (full version). Connected to the IB I have 2 x 6017 boosters and 1 x delta 6604 acting as a booster. I also have 2 x LDT s88 feedback modules connected to the s88 port and 1 x unlenbrock 63350 feedback module connected to IB locnet b connection.

The layout works well fully automated via the computer but I have a couple of questions.

a) I have several mfx locomotives with more than 4 functions but I can not get these functions to work with the IB and WDP. I have spoken with Uhlenbrock on this several times but with no success. Can any one help?.

b) If I can't fix the issue above then I will upgrade to the Marklin 60215 central station. If I do that can I use any of the above booster and feedback hardware that I have. I know that WDP supports the 60215.

Thanks

Andy

Hi,

well I don't have WDP nor an Intellibox - but have you tried using 255 as a secondary address for the mfx-locos? Read from the WDP-Forum that many Märklin-mfx decoders have this address (255) assigned as the additional address for controlling functions F5-F8. If so, you can change CV 75 to another value. For the WDP you should add an additional function-decoder with the secondary address for each engine (don't know how to do that).

If the secondary address should not be accessable through address 255 (and no other address of your knowledge) then you need to either read the CV 75, or reprogram it to a known value.
Fredrik.

Hi, all!

Good reply, Fredrik.

The IB cannot read CVs from mfx decoder, so re-programming is the way to go.

Andy, IB has no mfx support. But f0 through f8 are accessible using the MM protocol.

You should be able to use your boosters and s88's all though marklin says use only there equipment.

As far as your boosters the only problem you will have is when a mfx loc reaches the booster section it will not be able to send the mfx signal back to the CS2
The 60215 will have 5 amps so you may be able to do away with one booster.

Thank you for all your help but i still have a few questions

1) I have never programmed a locomotive with the IB or changed its CV can some one tell me how this is done or is there some instructions that I can download.

2) With the 60215 will I need any additional cables to connect my 6017 and s88's and the s88 that uses the locnet b connection (cat 5 socket).

Thanks

Andy

Hi,

1 - don't know

2 - no - they standard cables plug right in.

1. Do you have the IB manual? http://www.uhlenbrock.de/intern/index.htm

2. you will need to get the original s88 cable or get the cable made by LDT with the original s88 plug on one end and the cat 5 plug on the other. The LDT cable would be better because the cat 5 cable is shielded and doesn't have the interference that the s88 ribbon has. Or I think LDT has an adapter but I cant find it

I think we have a translation on this site, but I couldn't find it.

Google translations of the Uhlenbrock FAQ:
http://translate.google....=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8
http://translate.google....%2FIB%2FI96EF52C-001.htm!ArcEntryInfo%3D0207.29.I96EF52C%26NewServerName%3DGAMMA

The German versions:
http://www.uhlenbrock.de.../FAQ/IB/I96EF52B-001.htm!ArcEntryInfo=0207.28.I96EF52B&NewServerName=GAMMA
http://www.uhlenbrock.de.../FAQ/IB/I96EF52C-001.htm!ArcEntryInfo=0207.29.I96EF52C&NewServerName=GAMMA

The instructions in the loco manual describe how to program the decoders with a Control Unit 6021.
The IB is very similar, but the "programming track trick" must be used to program mfx decoders. I hope you get the point from the Google translation.

Tom

Send a PM to forum member Clapcott. Peter has quite a bit of experience with the Intelibox and programming locos with it.

Andy,

I might be wrong, perhaps a few other items to consider. My understanding is that the Marklin 6017 booster does not support MFX, hence the creation of the Tams booster link.

see these links:

marklin-users.net forum » General topics » Digital » mfx feedback with 6017 booster

https://www.marklin-user...k-with-6017-booster.aspx

marklin-users.net forum » General topics » Digital » Märklin 60129 CONNECT 6017 - any good?

Next item the Delta 6604 as a booster. My recollection is that the use of this as a booster limits you to only 4 functions for that booster section, and most importantly does not provide short circuit protection.

You did not say what transformers you are using for the boosters and what track voltage you are indicating. While analog and perhaps Delta decoders may be fine with 16v - 17v, you really need to be supplying 19v at the track for the newer digital decoders.

If your intent is to go with a 60125, you may want to consider replacing the 6604 with the newer 60174 and also the newer stabilized power supplies.

YMMV

r/Thomas

This is not quite true.
A Delta Control booster or a 6017 will transmit MM, mfx, and DCC with all functions. Only the mfx feedback is missing, so mfx locos cannot be registered or programmed in booster sections.

The short circuit protection of a Delta Control (booster or normal operation) is rather slow. A booster with a faster protection might save the life of a decoder in an overload situation.
No difference for normal short circuits (derailed cars etc.).

The 60129 (Connect 6017) was IIRC designed for the CS1 (60212) and is not required for a CS1 with Märklin update or a CS2.

Please note: running booster with 16 V AC gives about 22 V track voltage - more than you get when using 18 or 19 V DC power supplies.

Tom
