Yes, I have both. No real issues, though they use very early implementations of Digital decoders.
Mine live in a display case, though, so they don't get out much or have hard use.

Hi Stephen,
I think I read somewhere that these digital coaches could not be controlled by the new controllers like the CS and MS, and would only work with the 6021. I'm not sure about CS2 and MS2.
Maybe someone who has these coaches could confirm if there is any truth in this? |

Hi Jay,
The car was in the 1990 assortment only. It was extremely expensive for that period: The regular retail price in Germany was only a little bit lower than 400 DM (~200 EUR). In the US the suggested retail price was 412.00 USD. For that money you also had the choice of a crocodile 3352.
Regards
Markus

hello markus
thanks for the info
im not sure that they are worth the high prices being asked of them 2nd hand today.
they have novelty value but its now very dated technology - if there was some way to have proper music rather than the very basic beep-beep tones of this early generation of decoders. maybe a 2nd sound decoder with music uploaded into it could be piggy-backed onto the built-in decoder which would then just move the figures inside and flash the lights lol.

The waiter car is probably one of the best things Märklin ever made for digital operation. You are right that the beep, beep music is outdated. Anyway very rare models and hard to find for little money. |

To some extent the dated technology is very charming. Kind of like the horns that were available back in the sixties for some of the E-Loks of the day. These items are also very scarce and expensive when found. |
