If I have give some of my rares, I have a couple of rare things such as: 39618/9 BR61. 26536 Long Henry. 39013 BR01 150. 379xx BR03 Streamlined. 31859 3 set Croc.

Is it vintage, by means from the 30s to 60s, is it newer models that are produced in a strictly limited series, or is it things that have a high demand on ebay and similar sites or stores? For me it is my SK800 in perfect condition, and two cars produced for the 2005 modellbahntreff in 10 examples (signed by Paul Adams and the mayor of Göppingen and if I remember correctly, the cars is part of the pre-production of the 46976).

They are Marklin 8869, 8870 and a Railex Bavarian B VI, Tristan. Joined: 03/05/2005(UTC) Posts: 213 Location: Washington state, USA		I don't own anything very rare, but my DA800 BR 23 and one of my 4600 Gepackwagens both have the early wide-hood relex coupler, that as far as I know was only made during 1956, so that makes them a little unusual. Likely the rarest car I have, although it's probably not all that rare, is a 4046 24cm Silberlinge cab car, only made 1968-69. It was replaced in 1970 with the 4081, which I think is the same car except with an interior. -James

The cars and the truck with the trailer have a butter color and have the "Storck Karamellen" label in black. One of the cars has a brakeman's cab. I have no pictures yet of the set so I apologize for not posting any. My dealer told me that it comes from the dealer exclusive program. Anyway, the set looks very nice. It was a One time only in 2008.

Not everything will be rare, large production series will never be rare. Though, some items will be rarer and their value will surely increase in price.

In terms of really rare stuff, only my 3027.4 BR44 with "fälsche Tenderaufschrift" fits the bill. It's in perfect condition and with original box.

I understand from Kolls that they are rare. 1x 4177 Koeln Messe DB compartment car bought at the Cologne train show, Fall of 1987. 1x Cats on Tour passenger car for Cats Musical, also from 1987. Bought in Germany. 1x each of 4648, 4649 DB tankers Gasolin & Avia 1x Maerklin Museum car from visit to Goeppingen 1990. 1x Statue of Liberty car 1986. 1x Maerklin club USA car 1985. 1x48662 from 2000. FS flat car with marble block load from famous Carrara quarry in Italy where Michaelangelo got his marble. 1x 44176 Milka DB car, maybe not rare but I do love that Milka Chocolate! 1x 48803 SBB 2002, historic swiss freight 6x car set for Croc. 1x 39560 Swiss Crocodile , green, bought 2002. 1x 4400f Airlines of the World container car set. As a retired airline employee, I display these in my display case.

I would say that some have a bigger place in my heart than others...but all are fully functionnal! My 10 favourites (in order of preference) and why.. 1)a RSM 800 electric with its 329/X coaches because it was my first M* train, received on X-mas of 1951 2)a TP 800, because it is a wonderful memory of my best friend who gave it to me just before he died prematurely. 3)a 3150 Northlander bought new from my M* dealer friend, never had expected it would be such a coveted item! 4)a 1949 SK 800 and its eight 35x coaches;: it represented the "impossible dream" when I was seven! 5)a 1952 MS 800 and its twelve 346/X coaches, because it looks so good and runs beautifully. 6)a 1947 CCS 800 bought on a lay-away basis from a friend in high school with my lunch money! 7)a 3025 bought used (very much so...) but now as good as new after a thorough restoration 8)a 1950 HR 800 because it was so hard to find one and to restore it 9)a HS 800 for the same reason 10)a RE 800 because I always wanted one and finally inherited it as a "basket case" of parts in 1984, which I duly reassembled, restored and which is now a top performer, pulling up to twelve (!) 348/x series coaches on my occasional 3600 M-track series Tischbahn! Seems that my "scale of preference" was all build in my head in the early 1950's when I was incessantly turning the pages of Märklin catalogs, to the point that the pages fell off! If anyone would like to see a detailed picture of any of these, let me know. Cheers

For years there were around 40-50, then came a tourist boom, and there are now several hundred. They breed more because they know the tourists will feed them. Occasionally they will come down off the nature reserve and climb into houses through open windows. They take all your food, trash your home, and even leave their droppings all over your floor. One elderly gentleman was arrested for shooting one of the monkeys with an air rifle, after he lost his patience with the constant attempts by the monkeys to get into his home. The monkeys are wild, but they are protected by law, so there's not much you can do about it.

I have a few: 3356 (may be 3056 I can't remember) Swiss Croc in Brown, a special paint sold only through the dealer Schweiger who had marklin paint him a run 4618 in pastel green/blue 37343 TEE RE 4/4II Those are just a few. Interestingly while I love them, they aren't my favorites- proof that rare doesn't always make you happiest when collecting! I actually had a lot of the rare stuff mentioned on this list, and a few others. I sold them to buy other goodies like my Gottardo and 26730 croc set!

I found the 37292 (digital version) of yours, these are the every two years MHI dealer locomotives. This one is from 1998. I also have 33292 which I bought to get the display base. I then started collecting the series. I have back to 1996 (Pumpkin BR 52) and am looking for 1994 and 1992 (1992 was first year ?). The series is distinguished by having a wooden base with a K track, and a MHI Dealer Meeting metal label on the base. Very limited, the 1998 version is the best of the series to me, although the 2008 V 300 is very nice.

The entire series of "Swiss" Locs WITH the matching wagon that each one had, including the music box. Please feel free to correct me on the numbers made. Jeremy.

Robert Robert, I apologise for not having seen this question. I know it's a month late, but I'll answer now if that's OK! The E91 was originally produced in the Bavarian brown. Although already part of the DRG, the Bavarian locos were still painted for a while in the brown colour. Afterwards, especially during the war, these locos were painted grey, as were most goods locos. After the war, they received the standard green colour.

Marklin makes special models, usually is a different livery, which are only sold in limited numbers through the MHI dealers.

Robert Oops sorry to be so tardy with my reply. MHI dealer meet locomotives are issued every two years at the MHI meet in October . They are not normally listed in the catalog, come with a wooden display case, and are normally limited to two per dealer ( I think). This occurs in even numbered years. I have them all back to 1996, and have been looking for 1992 and 1994. MHi locomotives and car sets are not necessarily rare, there are still a lot produced. In my opinion to be considered rare, there must be limited in production. Anything more than 3,000 total produced is too many to be rare. Rare items include 31859, toy show order locomotives, mhi dealer meet locomotives etc. I am peeved with Marklin apparently throwing this out the window with the 20 year MHi locomotive probably going to be produced in large numbers. Apparently!

A streamlined BR03.10 in light grey photo livery (delivered around 2004 - Recently I've seen a dealer who has still 1 or 2 in stock) I got few MHI cars and coaches as well... Due to current constraints of production I don't think that the 20 years MHI steamer will be produced in a large number of exemplaries...( I don't have absolute proof, I'll try to know - IMO not more than 2000 exemplaries)

I distinguish between a production item, which appears in a catalogue for at least a few years until withdrawn, and a limited edition which is limited by either the time it is produced, as in one production run only, or in more extreme examples limited to a certain number of models, for example 1000. As to the definition of "rare", I guess everything is relative. I often see many examples of "rare" locomotives available on ebay, which seems a bit of a contradiction...

Rumours say there are 60,000 members (but not all take the H0 model). I wouldn't call that limited. With one-time series, only the time frame for orders is limited - the number of copies is not limited. It's not rare and the price is not likely to go rocketing in a few years. Just look at all those "one-time series" BR 101 advertising locos - and how cheap most of them are on eBay ...
