Wish for 2008. Why not a new versions of the classics from the 50ies? Like a new DA800 or an SK800. That would be really nice! |

Very skilful craftsman and Marklin-enthusiast too! I have no pictures of it but I have made some reservations for a few pieces It comes from a normal C track ref xx188 or xx172 . A full metal RAM from Märklin is welcome to my showcase. And more variety of full metal editions of SWISS locos would be nice too.

I'll add something since its not marklin - I wish someone would make a functional coupler for european trains that is less obtrusive than even the marklin close couplers. especially on smaller locos, the coupler is an eyesore. I don't know if the roco or fleischmann low profile couplers are any better looking when on a train. Would be nice if someone would make a coupler that is semi-scale but relatively easily uncoupled (for switching) - sort of like what we have for US prototypes with the Kadee knuckle types. I know they (the real european) ones are basically just turnbuckles, but surely something beter can be designed for HO.

By the way, it is actually a Photoshop job that I did one day for pleasure ... But there are several members here who have actually made one such with C-tracks. A K-track equivalent would be more difficult to make. On the other hand, a 24360 rail would be appreciated as well : Pierre.

Although there are a few items I would like to have, such as a BR24 or more US models so I could have another M* layout, better production to keep current items in stock so I don't wait 6 months to receive the Digital Starter Set with CS would be great.
I guess that wish would be more green signal lights and less red/yellow signals on the product database website.... |

Since Maerklin sales are now greater outside than inside of Germany, I'd really like to see them broaden their international line-up to other countries. Say, for example, they start with the continents where they have not modeled anything yet. An experiment with an exotic international line-up. One loco and car set from each continent of probably the most exotic trains; assuming they could get rights to such.
For those of you geographically challenged this would mean locos and car set from Austrialia, Asia, Africa and South America. Be really neat to see them do a set modeled after the special GM loco high altitude train to Tibet and its pressurized coaches. Guess we can leave Antartica out of the line-up for obvious reasons.
Maerklin could then put the locos of these special exclusive one-time only ever in history in the same boxes used for Bellingrodts but this time placing a paper thin map of the continent behind the loco and the glass.

Something I've always wanted! From Australia, I'd suggest the Ghan or the Indian-Pacific, or for something a bit quirky, the Gulflander (and here). |

I'd like to see a weathered, limited edition brown croc. I'd also like to see a special series (say one special lok per year) of weathered electrics, starting with the aforementioned croc. Could come complete with certificate and special wooden presentation box A limited edition, snow covered Seetal would be cool too. Could be included in the above mentioned series. Modern update of the old ST800 would be rather awesome as well. Special series of weathered freight cars (3-4 cars per set) released in conjunction with the weathered Eloks. Another neat item would be if Marklin were to develop a special line of automated accessories (autos, surrounding buildings, etc.). My biggest wish for 2008 would be price reduction on all items and immediate availability of all items!!!

New Zealand too...... although I don't know how much appeal this would have outside of New Zealand to anyone other than ex pat Kiwi model railroader's (if they exist). The NZR DA Diesel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NZR_DA_class (similar to the GM EMD G12) - or the NZR Ka Steam engine would be my choices. Here's a piccy of the Ka. Frateschi do a 2 Rail DC model of the NZR DA (http://www.frateschi.com.br/produtos/g12a1a.php) for about $NZ100. I've thought about getting one and doing a 3 rail conversion of it. Not sure about the wheelset on it though, and how it would go on M Track. Hmmmm. Edited by moderator 11 January 2011 14:48:02(UTC)

I would like to see a Pioneer Zephyr in HO see links below for those of you unfamiliar with the train. And since Marklin made a point to stop in Chicago and see one of these trains last year during their Big Boy USA tour, I think it would be appropriate. There were also several versions and consists (short and longer trains, different names), so it could have a life span of many years for marklin. The HO model should be all metal and nickel plated, since the real train was mostly poilshed stainless steel - pretty shiny for the most part. I think a Trix DC version would do well in the USA too. The only options have been very expensive, extremely limited, but nice import brass models (over $2500), and a crappy junk looking set in plastic from Con-Cor, overpriced at $300+. http://www.flyingyankee.com/photos.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_Zephyrhttp://www.msichicago.org/exhibit/zephyr/

and this next one I know will never happen, but it would be nice to have a R3 (5300) M-track curve, maybe even an R4. A larger radius straight turnout too. Too bad they never did an R3 in metal track.
maybe they could do a limited run of a year or two of just R3 M track.

I am very impressed with the metal models made by Marklin.
They are made specially for guterwagen sets, such as the MAN trucks, and the Lanz tractors.
When it comes to buildings and lineside accessories, I am quite happy to make the Faller, Kibri and Vollmer kits, but being plastic, they tend to be a bit flimsy on a layout, and will be reduced to powder 50 years from now (I guess).
I would like M to begin a series of metal models for engine maintenance. They could be the simpler types of structures, and for marketing purposes, cover eras 2-5 (epoch II-V).
For a starter, a simple sanding tower, a sand drying shed, or a wash plant cover all eras. For the steam locomotive, it could be a a water column (spout). Maybe there are other accessories that could be well modelled in metal.
They could be included with one-time series of locomotives, or produced as a static Insider model-of-the-year. I know that Insider models have generally been "rolling" models, but maybe other members may have ideas for a series of static metal models. The models could be produced later for the general catalogue, but in different colours or trims.

Morning All,
How about an absolutely killer of a set, 37605/606 quality, version of the Chicago and Alton "Limited", the Southern Railway Crescent Train. or a British train, Flying Scotsman or the Mallard? Point being quality not necessarily which particular item. Short term HUGE profit item more winterised track for Christmas layouts? Or am I the only sucker who would buy them?
Cheers,
Jeremy. |

With the last issue of Insider News each year, I would like a glossy calendar for the following year, with one photo per month.
It could be somthing similar to the desktop background that Marklin supply for the computer screen.
If I hang a railway theme calendar in my office, any visitor can make conversation, or reveal they are also interested in trains or model trains.

It,s possible to run Hungarian stuff on M tracks, besides the two Marklin locos, you have M62 from Roco, and M61 also from Roco. Brawa,s news this year is a MAV Talent, and Piko have a Desiro from MAV as well + Taurus in the more simple hobbyprogram. These are readymade for AC, with pick up shoe and decoder. I got from Deak a V43 witch they rebuildt for me into AC, and i rebuild a V43 from Fuggerth my self, it was quite easy, only problem is that i could not make the light work[xx(] I only needed a pick up shoe and a new decoder for these work, i used a decoder from Uhlenbrock. I am shore i will get the light work as well

One of my wishes for 2008, is "weathered" C track. This would make the ballast a "speckled" colour. That is, variations in colour through the ballast. The rails would also be painted. I would pay a premium for weathered C track. They could still sell standard C track, because we could use that inside tunnels, maybe on stretches of new main line, and elsewhere. M would still include the standard C track in starter sets. They could also offer MHI, one-time series, or Insider starter kits WITH weathered C track. Many of us may be tempted to buy new weathered C track, to replace existing track. That would make Marklin marketing Department smile . It may even save Marklin. Then other modellers could also get lots of cheap standard C track on eBay. Everybody will be happy. regards Kimball |

lol Kimball!
Actually... There was something smilar for M-track! The Primex version of M-track didnt use speckled coloured trackbed, but just a plain pale "tan" colour.
Though, on a personal note, I´d say that the C-track is already so UGLY, that no factory weathering is able to save it. (big ugly holes for screws, and a totally unrealistic angle and width of the ballast)
But I think it should at least be possible to "blacken" the shining rails, just like the drivetrains on the big steamers...? |

I'd like to see them release ALCO PA B units UP Challenger 4-6-6-4 (maybe they could buy the tooling from Lionel, since they won't likely be making HO anymore) a metal bodied and barreled HO K5 Leopold rail cannon Burlington Zephyr streamlined railcar - in metal and nickel plated to look like the polished stainless of the real one.
and some metal bodied passenger cars like I posted before for the SP Daylight passenger train.

-Some metallic models from Greece , maybe of the model that i already have posted some images . -The Dora canon with 2 V188s in snow camouflage . -The reproduction of the blue - silver Santa Fe f7 and of the 26600 . -Some era 2 military stuff . -A package of 24 US box cars , so as to create an endless freight train . |
An outsider. I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

Quote:[size=1" face="Verdana" id="quote]quote: Originally posted by jeehring.... It is not a joke, the flexible C track does exist!!! I'have seen it this week ! It was a prototype- only one - made for himself by a German guy living here . Very skilful craftsman and Marklin-enthusiast too! I have no pictures of it but I have made some reservations for a few pieces It comes from a normal C track ref xx188 or xx172 . There are thin cuttings between each ties but only the plastic trackbed is cut. Not the rails, not the central feeder. It is probably made with high precision digital cutting machine. The reseult is not bad. It allow flexibility of the piece of track; More great when you have several pieces. So you just have to hide those cuttings by weathering the track as usual Sounds like an interesting idea. Did you ever receive your reserved pieces? If you did please show a few pics - a close-up of a cut if possible. |

I want a new BR141/E41. It´s been ages since they made the last mold, and it is such a common and multiuse machine that it should be easy to sell. |
