Greetings from Africa

After reading “XXUP” review of the BR 294 (Marlin 37904) i need your experience and guidance. “XXUP” states that he has damaged two locomotives while pulling cleaning cars.

My short term purchase plans include the Lux vacuum & scrubber track-cleaning car set. I would not have thought that these systems cause such severe strain on locomotives. Are their locomotives more “suitable” for this type of duties, without suffering breakages?

Regards

I usually use a BR151 or BR194 to pull my Lux train. An old metal E40 will do too.

I must say I have never thought about this. I just have the LUX VAC and I just put it on the end of any set up and away it goes.

I agree.

I used the Lux cleaning car a few times but found it causing more hassle than good. Maybe I'm too old fashioned Smile

Charles hi,

My tracks were a bit "special" i.e. not good biggrin so my locos were experiencing the Alzheimer effect at times. When I ran the cleaning car, right after the Alzheimer hick-up, it was messing the MS causing it to behave funny ... it was going blank, only mfx sign flashing, and I had to restart it. That happened a few times and I gave up.

Some clarification is needed here.. The Lux cleaning car did not damage either loco.. In fact, the V60, which used to tow two of the markin cleaning cars, died before I purchased the Lux cleaning car! (Must have known it was coming!) I was reflecting on my bad luck with the regard to finding a suitable diesel loco to tow the Lux car..

The sad tale of both locos can be found at:
