can anyone give some details about the HAG company?
About their locomotives
Do they have 3-rail locos?
Digital?
5-pole?
Does anyone have one?

Hi Alonso,
I have about 10 HAG locomotives and several Cars.
They are available in DC, AC, AC digital, and now AC digital with sound. The new ones come standard with High Efficiency Ball Bearing motors and all their locomotives are completely metal (except windows, tiny details etc...)
They are expensive both worth the extra money. (especially if you focus your collection on Swiss stuff like me)

I am sure that this company only sells quality,
but i wonder why these locos r more expensive than the M ones, since M raises the prices because of her excellent name too.

HAG's loks are more expensive (1)because there is excellent quality, sometimes better than Marklin's. (2) They are made in Switzerland where labor costs more and (3) There are shorter production runs from this specialty maker.

I have a few of the loks and cars, and the quality is excellent. I particularly like the freight cars that I have, the chassis are all metal. Most German hobby shops of any size carry the loks etc., but the best selection is probably Schweickhardt in Waiblingen (ETS). Last time I was there he had more loks and rolling stock than I saw in most stores in Switzerland!!Cool

They are more expensive because almost everything is metal, even the bogies, and also the details and molds are better than marklin, just compare Re460 and you will see a very good fine details in the shell that is much more close to reality than the marklin model. Even the wheels are more accurate.

GOOD NEWS! I have been in email contact with AJC Kids in Texas lately and it appears they will be carrying HAG in the very near future!!! The prices I have heard so far are excellent considering they are a US dealer and they plan on keeping a decent amount of items IN STOCK as opposed to the typical "HAG by special order only" guys. For now they have already posted their new items prces on their site, the rest to follow!

In their catalogue they have very few items.

Speaking of HAG, I came home tonight to a package from Switzerland with my latest purchases! I thought I'd snap a few photos. I expected a lot from this railbus and they more than delivered. The thing ways a ton, has digital interior lights, precision runner and detail beyond what can be expected for a cast model. As for the passenger car, fantastic as well. I threw in a few pix, the underside phoho shows the die cast underframe.

One very strong point in hag models is the transparency of the glazing or window imitation, probably is one of the best in the industry, when you see trough them it is easy to appreciate every single detail inside the model.

Also the weight and painting quality of the passenger wagons is amazing.

Beautiful model 5.

As far as I know, there is not 5 pole motor in any Hag locomotives (Unless there is something new for the 2006), actually they don’t need it, the ball bearing motor is so good and smooth than 5 pole update is not necessary.

I have 6 of the new line locomotives from Hag and non of them have 5 pole motor.

The famous mfx inventors ESU is the "General Distributor" for Germany since beginning of this year. If you look carefully at several well nown internet dealers, you'll also find HAG in their lists.

Especially for ETS (Schweickhardt) I personally know that they have most of the HAG models even in their shop displays. No doubt, the largest variety is found at Swiss dealers.

I hope you're all aware that the display sample of the new Märklin Re 4/4-I (39420) was based upon the corresponding HAG model (at least 80% of it). biggrin

Hi Nikos,

Here's a Swiss dealer I found some time ago:http://www.suter-meggen.ch/HO%20Netto/HAG/index.htm

Also this German dealer has some prices on his website:http://www.modelleisenbahn.com/shop/index.php

I have no experience in hooking up such a loco on Märklin digital systems though.

Hope this helps

To those who might be interested in the HAG Re4/4 I, that`s the two models in the foreground of Alberto`s pic, these are not exactly built to scale, they`re somewhat bigger.
In HAG terminology 1/87 and the somewhat bigger models are discerned as "New" vs. "Old" generation.

Manfred

Re HAG this is one maker where I think it is important to find a good dealer and not go just for price. I ordered an ae 6/6 from Zuba Tech in Switzerland requesting an A/C model and saying I used Marklin systems. I did receive an A/C model but it was not digital and despite a week of trying to contact Zuba Tech they have not replied. I do not want to return the Loco as I have that feeling I will not see a replacement.
If anyone out there wants a HAG ae 6/6 a/c analogue going cheap then do send me an email and i will give details.
When ordering using HAG numbers make sure you add the letter 'd ' after the HAG number which may not be quoted in the catalogue or use a dealer that you can trust.
This is an expensive lesson for me but will not put me off buying HAG as I also have a 465 BLS which is great.

David

One nice thing about HAG is they carry spare parts for everything and have an entire list/brochure dedicated to spare parts (Available from the dealer) I believe you can even call HAG up and order them direct yourself if you can speak German!

Wechselstrom means?
The other word means what(DC?)?
That is for the M version?
What i want is an AC digital
I can see an SBB 460 that costs 288 euros( Re 460 Jubilok II) and another one that costs 390(Re 460 ADtranz mit SBB Jubiläums-Signet) ,what is the difference?

I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

Wechselstrom means AC 3 rail for marklin. You want a locomotive that is Wechselstrom Digital. I would highly recomend ordering from an English speaking dealer such as www.modelleisenbahn.com or www.bahnorama.ch or www.eurolokshop.com if you a re really worried about getting the wrong locomotive due to translation trouble

Thanks for the new links gentlemen Smile

I think HAG's numbering system is a bit confusing.
Their own factory website isn't an example of clear information in that aspect if you ask me.
And it seems to me most dealers assume you're already an expert on HAG products.

Just an observation.

Kind regards
