Please excuse me if this is old news:

I see on marklin site that there are now decoder upgrades
60921 mfx-Hochleistungsantriebs-Set (€ 109 inc VAT/GST)
60922 mfx-Hochleistungselektronik (€ 89 inc VAT/GST)
60923 mfx-Hochleistungsantriebs-Set (€ 109 inc VAT/GST)
60924 mfx-Hochleistungsantriebs-Set (€ 109 inc VAT/GST)

See http://www.maerklin.de/p...enkatalog.php?katalog=32

Three inlcude motor replacements - only one seems to be a chip only set. I paid my dealer A$240 to have an AE 3/6 delta converted to motorola digital with the Marklin chip set and engine replacement. €109 for mfx seems to be a fair price..

Any thoughts oe perhaps redirections to the correct posting?

Adrian,
http://www.suter-meggen....l/mfx_decoder/detail.htm

Märklin asks almost twice the price for their mfx decoder that is said to be identical with the ESU device.

Don`t know the spare part prices for an armature, a magnet and a motor shield. Might be there are some savings when ordering spare parts.

Regards,
Manfred

Yes.. It is certainly valid to compare the 60922 with these prices... I wonder how Markling would explain the difference?

Adrian,
Checked another source just a few minutes later.
Maybe the price indicated for the ESU in the suter link is a bit too optimistic. A difference of 20Euros seems to be more realsitic.
But still some need for an explanation of the difference from the part of Märklin...

Regards,
Manfred

We'll see. I wonder. For a long time now it has been possible for Märklin to sell signals, decoders, relays, and other accessory for much higher prices than their equivalents. I guess they are satisfied with the 80 % (guess) of the market that don't know about any competitor, and don't know that ESU manufactures the decoders.

It would appear that the mfx sets will conform to the same applicability as the 6090x sets, just looking at the numbers.
