If I had more $ to spend right now, I might consider it - and try to make it 3 rail, as not too likely to ever see it from Marklin. And thus new sounds (presumably) ... Juha, the choco tanker isn't really new - but one very detailed (and heavy) model. Surely matches and runs nicely with Thomas

Well, between release of #37991 and #37993 M has switched to another supplier of electronics. You can clearly hear this difference by comparing the sounds of D&RGW ALCO with SP ALCO. Thus I guess M's latest of the big ones may sound a bit differently. Still more stronger, that is. You're so right - a CHALLENGER were just nice [:p][:p][:p] BUT, though very similar to the BIGBOY - a (partially) new tooling were required, anyway ... And then let's take into account they got a huge pile of unsold BBs, still ... So my hopes for this beauty are rather limited.

I think they should also enter into some agreement with MTH or BLI to offer some existing locos as three rail. that way development cost is minimized, and they could offer a few US three rail locos they would never do otherwise. If they have had cooperative efforts before with the likes of Fleischmann and Brawa, then why not MTH?
