here's some pictures of the new HO Aerotrain. Photos show it doesn't look to bad, but body is all plastic. If I had more $ to spend right now, I might consider it - and try to make it 3 rail, as not too likely to ever see it from Marklin. Its interesting looking, even if the real train was a flop.

Never, Nikos. There're so many tinplate box cars and cabooses I'm missing, still ...
But I can tell you - they are f***ing expensive, nowadays [xx(][xx(][xx(]
Especially in condition brand new in the box ...
Thanks, Macca - fair price, that is

His original asking price was €270. That's when I said I'd leave ...
But 200 are OK for immaculate classic tinplate stuff, brand new and untouched in the box

John,
I agree a fantastic set - fair price for a classic.
Shhhh(Does Roro know
) [}:)]
You can email me with a list of outstanding items you want and I can keep an eye out on TradeMe over here.
Marklin US is not as "fashionable/important" as Marklin Europe for some reason.
BTW nearly brought that set myself but it went FAST [:0]

Today the car set from 29490 arrived. It is a fine addition to my US rolling stock, as the models match those from other car sets and starter set, but have different road names or (for the Pennsy boxcar) a different road number (click images for high-res versions):
Nicely detailed; fragile, but that is unavoidable with this detailing I think:

Well, following #s 34990, 29848, 37990, 37991 and 37992 let's
welcome M's sixth incarnation of the big one:
#37993
[:p][:p][:p]
(BTW - with 25 real McCoys there are 19 road numbers still to go ...
)
Also - their brand new set of 10 freight cars is just nice [^][^][^]

John the new BB is like (identical) the 37991.
Right?
An outsider.
I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

Thanks John,
seems like we're not totally forgotten. I miss new models, a 50' foot boxcar would be a good start. How realistic are the chocolate tankers? To me they go well with Thomas.

Right, Nikos. Haven't seen her (yet
) - but I'd say #37991 and #37993 are generally identical.
Except for a new decoder, of course. And thus new sounds (presumably) ...
Juha, the choco tanker isn't really new - but one very detailed (and heavy) model.
Surely matches and runs nicely with Thomas

I guess that sound may the same as 37991 which already got an mfx decoder and greatly improved sound compared to 37990. Would much have preferred a Challenger instead of another BB ...
But agree wholly about the new car set [^][^][^]

I'm with you, Palle. For the most part of it ...
Well, between release of #37991 and #37993 M has switched to another supplier of electronics.
You can clearly hear this difference
by comparing the sounds of D&RGW ALCO with SP ALCO.
Thus I guess M's latest of the big ones may sound a bit differently. Still more stronger, that is.
You're so right - a CHALLENGER were just nice [:p][:p][:p]
BUT, though very similar to the BIGBOY - a (partially) new tooling were required, anyway ...
And then let's take into account they got a huge pile of unsold BBs, still ...
So my hopes for this beauty are rather limited.

Nice freight set, that 45649 [but the price ...]. Now for filling the other gaps in the numbering of the US sets (only 40 or so, starting between 45652 and 45680 ;-)

Right on John! My hopes for a Challenger are equally slim, but was hoping that Nikos was right when commenting on M reading this forum
And perhaps they could get Lionel's tools for a bargain price ...
Didn't realize the difference between the D&RGW and SP PA1's. Never had them on track simultaneously ... [:I]

they should buy Lionel's old tooling for the Challenger (I have two of them however, so don't personally need anymore).
I think they should also enter into some agreement with MTH or BLI to offer some existing locos as three rail. that way development cost is minimized, and they could offer a few US three rail locos they would never do otherwise. If they have had cooperative efforts before with the likes of Fleischmann and Brawa, then why not MTH?

They must have made the 37993 especially for me, since I missed out last time! mmrcnzjohn is giving me a hard time because I want a BB. Stick to German outline he says! I don't think he likes American models!
Are you getting a 37993 John? You could double head with your 37991!
