Hi

I got today an old set of Marklin (analogue HO format) and like to use Arduino to control it like forward, backward, speed? Any ideas? Thnx a lot

saw this in youtube and wonder how he did it! the one in the video is analogue, right?

The video on youtube showing Marklin Z, which is using DC analogue. While Marklin HO 3-rail is using AC (and drawing higher current than Z-scale). If your Marklin HO is the old 2-rail DC, then you may be able to control using Arduino easily by connecting its PWM output to a power transistor as switch, plus a capacitor to smoothen the voltage.
But if your Marklin HO is 3-rail AC, then it will be complicated since you have to generate 50/60Hz AC voltage to drive the train.

That depends on the loco. The old stuff with mechanical reverse units (MRU) has AC/DC motors that will run fine on AC or DC (even with PWM).
Reversing voltage will be a problem. MRU can be replaced by two diodes for DC operation.

Many decoders won't support DC PWM operation. But a typical "old analogue set" has no decoders.

I have updated the message with a couple of pictures. So I think it is a 3--rail analogue system. The Transformer indicates that AC alternative to be used only!

I was advised to use a MOSFET to make this happen but need to see a circuit so I don't burn anything!
Was looking at this circuit ..

Also read that The AC 3-rail would also work with DC ( from Battery or Arduin PWM ), Is this true.

You have to test whether your locomotive really can work with DC.
If it really work with DC, then put a power-switching circuit after the PWM output. The circuit can be something like this:
