Hello there.

Does anybody know the difference between the Märklin Insider Club and the Trix Profi-Club.

I've noticed the obvious four times a year issue of Trix Magazine (in German or English? Or perhaps German only?).

What about the savings on various museum entry tickets are they included with the Profi-Club membership as well?

Are you talking about the Trix or the Märklin Magazin? I'm currently a Märklin Insider, but I also drive regularly on DC systems with my Trix locos, so I thought of becoming a Trix Profi-Club member as well. :-)

Hi,

as you might know or see from the "News from Märklin" forum section, I'm a member of both clubs (actually even FC-Märklin; and since the beginning of all three). wink

I like the Profi-Club for its IMHO very nice yearly club cars, but the TRIX Magazine also differs quite a bit from the MM. I think it's only in German, but I'm not fully sure. Profi-Club News is comparable to Insider News.

Yes, deductions are also granted with that membership and you get as well lots of "special" club member model order sheets with the TRIX Profi Club. wink

Each quarter, I buy the TRIX quarter club magazine at my dealer. It is in English. TRIX has a different approach. Articles on prototypes seem to be, on average, more indepth and frequent, but they will also include, like in the last issue, cutouts of buildings that can be constructed out of paper. They also, for example, offer practical tips that go beyond Maerklin products and will tell you how to integrate the Faller car system into your layout. The magazine seems shorter and less about ancillary topics such as excursions, pages of freight cars for specific companies. In general, I like it better in terms of content but believe it has less pages than the MM.

It seems that MM has moved closer to the TRIX approach cutting down on the fluff and filler a little bit and giving more coverage to prototypes they are making models of.

I don't see overlap between MM and the TRIX magazine. If there were I would not buy it. TRIX may cover the same prototype that is offered by both but the articles are different (not like they wrote one article and put it in both).

Hi Sjlauritsen,

TRIX Profi-Club Magazin is also published in English. I am a member of both the Insider and TRIX Profi-Clubs. You may be luckier in Europe getting your magazines and other club items on time, but when they do arrive in the mail here it is a nice surprise.

Both magazines give useful tips and as Larry states the TRIX magazine has better articles on the prototypes. The TRIX Club wagon is always nice and makes a nice complement to the Maerklin one. The TRIX magazine focuses on 2-rail HO and N-scale.

The club cars are truly great (albeit I'm not a real collector of Bavarian stuff Cool). Here's one of their finest models:

Hey guys. How does the club waggon thing work? Is it sent to you or do you have to pick it up at your dealer? Do you pay for the waggon?

Hi Sjlauritsen,

One receives a Club car every year as part of your membership. There are other items offered "exclusively" for Club members.

Lutz,

That was a truly nice set to receive as a Club car. TRIX made this Kranwagen set in the 1980's for both the Express and International formats (I have both!! biggrin).
