Do you guys think this model will be coming out again soon? Maybe with soft-drive sinus? I think sound would be very difficult to achieve but holding on buying the 37521/522 models on e-bay waiting for a mfX one

Mario:

I have one of these and it runs very smoothly. You can always add a Lokpilot MFX. I will look at mine and see if sound is a possibility, but I would not hesitate to recommend these Loks to any Swiss railway fan.

I second the above advice. I bought the brown Seetal Croc 37521 when they first came out, it's central flywheel drive seemed a massive advance on earlier drive systems. It is super smooth and near silent, almost indistinguishable from the softdrive sinus to be honest. Though of course you do not get the 128 speed steps of MFX.

Incidently, the SNCF Flat Iron BB12000 37330 has the same drive system and is also wonderful.

Have ANY crocs Seetal or otherwise come out with sound from Maerklin? I'd really like one with sound.

Larry:

To my knowledge Marklin has not offered these with full sound. I have an older croc that was converted (by Robert at RJF) to full sound using a Loksound 3.5.

As the now successfully refurbished Seethal Museum croc #15301 will be one of the highlights at the meeting in Bauma from 10OCT-12OCT2008 it might well happen that Märklin offers finally also the museum version of this very fine loco, at some time this year.

Personally I think they will offer it rather with mfx and w/o sound (similar to the new Ee3/3); however that should not be any limitation for someone who wants it even as as such. wink

True, Lutz, I can bet on no sound. However, I was surprised and pleased that so many of the '08 Maerklin have sound even the smaller Dampf engines (BR64), which is wonderful. Getting sound put in, for me anyway, in the US is such a major production and cost that it is really an inconvenience. If I were retired maybe I'd see that differently and have sufficient time to do it myself.
