I tend to stay on my old soapbox too long. When I became a model railroader, Our dealer was a feisty German American. His name was Delos. His wife Laura was from Dusseldorf. She worked there for the counsulate when they met. We would gather at the store for hours on evenings, and weekends. We discussed everything from "Twenty Lawyers, and Thirty politicians at the bottom of the detroit river would be a good start" to vacationing in Jackson Hole, and Yakima Washington. I' d like to say I miss them a great deal, and I feel I learned a lot from them. I have never met anyone like them since. I was happy to listen, and take some of their advise. I was not your average "know it all" 32 jare old spoiled american punk. Best regards! We just need more Love in the world!

One mail after the other. No "thread"; no assorted "packed" information, it was info (& fun) pure. But lame.. |

Personally I think both those pictures depict the same number, and both end in 0 not 8.

Dear All, today I have received my 36805 complete exchanged by Märklin . I was the member of the Spanish language list LCTM who initiated this topic. As Mr. Lutz say, it is brand new engine with the new kind of decoder for the 36824. I like to thank you all for the different recommendations also to Mr. Tom Catherall from Marklin USA who told me to send the item to Germany for exchange and of curse to Märklin for their responsibility to the customer. Regards Eduardo Palacios

So this is recognized as a production quality problem by M, and it seems like they are taking customer service very seriously nowadays also outside Germany and replace faulty items on manufacturing warranty.
It's good to hear, indeed... |

that one looks (red arrow with the bubble) like it might be a different sort of metal defect than zinc pest from photos I have seen of ZP. wonder if it might be a sort of hydrogen embrittlement? The bulge might occur when some hydrogen atoms eventually meet up in some small point defect or void, and once the join up, pressure increases. a similar defect can occur on enamel coated range tops if the curing furnace atmosphere isn't dry enough, plus a few other reasons - it causes the enamel to pop off in little chips when it happens - some call it "fish scale". the hydrogen could come from some point when marklin was heating the zinc ingots for injection molding.

Jonquinn, as far as I understand the technical expressions, this is exactly the diagnosis on these bubbles that was given on the HAG forum.
