Hello everybody!

I am curios as of how much Marklin train collectors are willing to pay for Marklin empty vintage boxes.confused For instance,
take a look at the eBay auction ended not long ago:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/e...=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018
It sold for 152 euros after 26 bids!

In view of this, I would like hear your opinion on the following topic:
How much and how rare are these boxes. Have you seen any discussion of this topic in this forum? I did a search and could not find much. But I found that the Chinese are making Marklin boxes now. Is there a counterfeit market for these boxes?

I have a very old original Marklin empty box for an HS 700 electric locomotive in fair condition. I am including a picture of the loco itself for reference. See Pictures.

I am sure that M* collectors will appreciate this topic.

Hello,

Original Marklin empty boxes can go for quite high prices sometimes. As always, depends on condition, version and the rarity.

For example,
The TT 800 box example you brought up went for a fair price. Especially with the original wrappings paper.

Topic on Replika boxes:

https://www.marklin-user...ault.aspx?g=posts&t=8550

There are several more topics...do a quick search.

I never like to give estimates on how much items are worth but the HS 700 is a very rare lokomotive. Seldomly seen on ebay.de or anywhere for that matter.

For someone in possession of this locomotive look for an orig. box...it could bring a nice price.

Thanks,
Bill

Roberto,
this has been brought up before and some of these boxes(EMPTY)bring really high prices. On ebay.de (maerklin leerkarton) they are some others (not yours)now in the 60 to 70 euro range. Most of my vintage stuff doesn't have boxes, and would be worth more if they had the original kartons. I have been looking for a good box for my ST 800, but can't find one in my budget. Yes there are reproductions of the Marklin boxes. This is not so uncommon as they also have repro boxes for vintage Lionel trains. I agree with Krokhunter that this is a rare item and could be worth 100 euro or more? Thanks for sharing it with us.

I have done some research...the two that I found have red boxes....much like the HR 700 locomotive.

Here:

Here is an original HS 800 box to give you an idea:

Also while I was searching (somewhat off topic) but a great resource:

Its funny...I don't see why everyone has been freaking out about box prices lately! They are just as old as the locomotives which were in them. It's like saying for a TW800...wow! $3,500 for some fragile metal, wire, and some gears!
