Has anyone received this locomotive from the Fall new items yet?

What are your first impressions?

Thanks,
Best regards,

I will get one with my military set.
An outsider.
I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

First disappointment: there seems to be no sounds at all! In this high-tech era, I think that sounds should be standard.

But the 37903 fill with telex coupling.

I don't quite agree. I think sounds should be an optional extra!

Having bought the 39180 instead of the 39181, just for the extra sound, I find myself running it more and more with the sound turned off! I could have saved myself a lot of money.

I like the option Marklin has been following where they offer 2 versions, 1 with and 1 without sound.

In the future I will buy the odd new loco with sound, but I will buy the majority without, I think. It's just not worth the extra money, IMHO.

In the case of the Br290, I think perhaps the body is a bit small to get a decent speaker in it, which is probably why they haven't offered a sound version.

Likewise! When I first got the 37803 I was thrilled over this new "dimension" to the hobby. But, although I haven't run my locos very much since I haven't had a permanent layout, I've found that I prefer my locos silent...
So I appreciate that Märklin gives us the option to choose whichever version we prefer.

Sorry, maybe a bit off topic again...

Hi,

I got mine some 2 weeks ago. I love it, nice design, (almost) full metal body. It runs very smoothly (even controlled with ECoS). The very bright LEDs are nice. Nothing bad to say about it! The missing sound is no issue for me.

No, you will not. The 37903 is a V 90 model (V 90 030) with the new telex system.

I have also now the military set 26290, but I am a bit confused about the V 290 (V 290 999-2) included in the set.

What motor is installed in this V 290 (that has the same colour scheme as the 37901 with the old motor)?

Edited: The motors of the V 90 030 and the V 290 999-2 are the same type SDS motor # 103045

The price is pretty reasonable for the V290 plus telex for about US$280.00.

With the new style telex couplers, I am not dissapointed by not having sound.

The price does not justify sound in my opinion.

Robert,

using the new LokSound mfx decoders (#62499) you could even fit that now into the loco; just need to replace the loudspeakers. wink
