Every now and then a name of a well known person,who also is a MRR enthusiast,is mentioned in some magazine or newspaper. This time its the other famous Scotsman Rod Stewart with his layout in ModelRailroader. http://www.trains.com/mrr/ Don't know about you,but to me it always seems nice to know when a familiar name comes up in MRR,especially so when someone has just made a remark on your hobby like :You're into what That's kids stuff!!! I got 5 locos from that and have wondered who owned them. Rumors abounded that it was a tycoon who ran afoul of the law...

I will just say that he is the CEO or president of a very large US/global corporation. There are no legal problems, just that the guy realized he had far too much stuff, since he had recently discovered the hobby and had bought up several large collections, and a major east coast hobby shop to boot. One clue is the the company was founded by someone who was very instrumental in the development of "modern railroading", through a significant invention they guy came up with, patented and manufactured (starting in the pittsburgh area).

Good to know that it wasn't one of the creeps you see doing the perp walk after pulling down multimillion dollar compensation packages. The locos I got were in excellent shape at a good priceI didn't pay any premium for the 'celebrity' ownership. Do you know if the sale is going on? I checked periodically and R never updated, so I lodt interest after a while...

I don't know how much more will be listed. the sale link is still on reynauld's website. I don't know if he specifically wants his privacy maintained, but he must have or I'm sure Reynaulds would have said so otherwise on the website. I don't know his name but I think I could find it out relatively easily by looking up on yahoo.
