Hi all,
Seems Spain is the place to be. I am travelling in early November for business and will be in Bilbao. At Marklin-Spain I found two stores "Lugano" and "Hobby Moragues". do they stock Marklin? Are there other stores with Marklin? Any recommendations greatfully received.
Muchas gracias.

It´s difficult in Spain to find Marklin outside the dealers´ circuit. Maybe in a big MRR store can keep old stocks of Marklin. Try those ones, but be careful, sometimes the webpage of Marklin Spain is not properly updated.
Enjoy Spain!!!

thanks Orubias.
The webpage shop listing of Marklin USA is the same, does not indicate they have any stock in the store!
What is the dealer circuit?

The official dealer circuit are the ones you find in the Spanish Marklin webpage. Not many, but not bad. What I mean is that, maybe, you can find Marklin in other shops. At least in Madrid and Barcelona Marklin Dealer Shops have the actual items you can find in the current catalogue, and in some big toy stores, from time to time, you can find some models, usually "old" Marklin items. |

John:
I am flying to Bilbao this week on business! I don't know, however, if I will have any free time to see these shops.

go see the titanium art museum I would like to see that, mainly because the company I work for made the titanium sheet that covers the building (they made it before I started working there, so I can't be blamed for the staining problem they had on the building).

not really suitable titanium for a bike, its nearly pure Ti and not much stonger than some carbon steels. You would want Ti-3V-2.5Al, or if you really intend to punish the bike, then Ti-6Al-4V (like used on wingskins of fighter jets and other parts). plus its pure sheets. it would make a roof for you that will last almost forever.

Well, maybe some Ti as loads for a freight train. I'll see what I can pick up John

I could send you some small pieces, might be suitable for a simulated load of plate going to airbus or slabs to a rolling mill, so you don't have to try to pry off the panels from the museum.

visited Bilbao or to be precise a town nearby. Only got into Bilbao one evening well after the shops had closed. Saw the Gugggenheim from a distance, looked cool but it was night time.
Maybe on my next visit....
And Jonquinn if you can email me off list that would be great, your profile does not allow me to email you. According to a person I met in Spain the staining of the museum was due to the bolts they used not the titanium. Anyway, they said they are cleaning it...thought it was dark and I couldn't see it. Still, stains or not it has been a great investment for the region.
