Hi dear Märklin friends,

http://www.maerklin.de/p...MSITE=&wishednumber=

I have one (left) of these turnouts and I try to switch it with my Central Station. I use the 256 adress, but it doesn't switch.
In what I'm in wrong? Which are the steps usefull?
Thank you very much.

Stefano

Hi Stefano,

you can try this:

- try the 255 adress
- exchange the brown and the red cable on CS
- unsolder the decoder and try if the turnout is working analogically. If yes, the decoder is defect.

kind regards

Stephan

Do that only with the switch and nothing else connected, I did and I burned all of my k83 decoders

You can't possibly burn your k83's by switching brown and red. But the k83s won't work with the wrong polarity, that's why Stephan made the suggestion. But there is little risk that this is the cause for the original problem IMHO.

I don't doubt it. I said it was not because switching red and brown.

@frankie

it is written in the Märklin FAQ. For mfx locs in doesn't matter how red and brown are connected, the locs will run anyway. The non mfx decoder and the k83/k84 will not work, but for sure not burn.

I can immagine that in your case you had somewhere another transformator connected to brown of the k83 feed line, so that during switching you caused a short circuit with further burning.

If nothing else is connected on the k83 feed line, nothjing will burn.

Stefano can try by taking off the switch from the layout and testing alone. In case he can reverse the soldered cable of the switch, without modifying the layout cable connection.

kind regards

Stephan

Well actually I use the Viessmann ones with their booster 5215, which burned too, I was adding a couple of power cable to the tracks to have better distribution and figured out that I connected all of them the other way round, so instead of re-wiring on the tracks I thought that inverting them on te CS side would do the same.
I could keep the smoke inside...[:I][:I][:I]

Hi dear Stephan and Frankie,

I have solved my problem giving to the turnout the 3 adress and now it switches well.
I don't know why it happens, but it happens...!!!

Best regards

Well,
I guess it means it was used together with the Cetral Control-i, which used adresses 1,2,3,4 instead of Central Control which used 253,254,255,256. Standard 2604 SHOULD use adresses 255 ad 256.
How did you figure out? Nice to hear anyway.

Hi dear Lars,

You are right and in the Einstieg in Märklin Digital 0308, p. 157, these (255 and 256) are the standard adresses of 2604 and perhaps your explanation of the strange case is correct. Nevertheless I have purchased my turnout as new item from Lokshop in Germany and I don't guess it was used before..!!!

Best regards
Mit freundlichen Grüße

Stefano
