Hi to all,

i just purchased my first crane; this one being the 451 (probably 50's) no box. i bought it so cheap that i knew there was something wrong (just didn't check the photos at the time): the crane arm metal is twisted badly at some time and as a result all the thinner metal perforated beyond repair (or so i believe). i wonder if this is something any of you have ever seen before and if there is a remedy for it.

here's the link to the photos:

apart from that it works perfectly.

regards,

cem.

Nice crane.

In the pics it doesn´t look so bad. Maybe you can disarm it and try to strech the bars manually or with the help of a small press.

Band on the run

At that price it is a steal especially as it works well. I would accept its imperfections and enjoy playing with it. If you need to reinforce the struts it would depend apon your skills. (mine are non existant.) but you could try reinforcing wood or metal strips.

Hi to all,

Thanks for the responses. It really was a bargain. I thoght of disarming it but the arm is permanently attached to the body and i have to cut the connecting rod; so i passed this option. i just tried to stretch the struts by twisting arm a little; now it doesn't look really bad to me and yes, i will enjoy playing with it: it will haul scrap iron from yard to cars.

Thanks again,

cem.
