It must be impressive, because it was also mentioned in the newspapers this morning in Holland.

Apparently a 32 year old New Zealander from my home city of Wellington was among those killed. The impact of the truck peeled the side off the train carriage like a can opener.

I heard on TV a Victorian local pleading with authorities to do something about unsafe train crossings. We have had similar issues here in New Zealand too, with accidents at unsafe train crossings. A former New Zealand test cricket player, Chris Cairns lost his sister some years ago at an unsafe train crossing. Chris has been campaigning for some years to have something done about them. I guess it is the same in Australia.

My sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones in this terrible accident.

Yes just caught it on the TV news tonight.Sad stuff alright. Went to Wellington a couple of weeks ago and it was great to see that the Mackay crossing now has an over bridge. That was a very dangerous spot on the main highway for many years here in NZ. You just can't be to careful.
