Latest version is now 1.7. This should also be the minimum version released with the CS update.

It contains accumlative all non-mfx models from previous versions + those newly announced in 2007, like for example #26541 or 36824 (but not yet 36890).

I don't know yet if the generic decoder entries for 6080, 6081, 6085, 6090, 6603, 66031, 66032 and 60901-60905 will also be included in the next releases (at least I have them, amongst some others).

The 60902 entry for example looks like this (i.e. no loco type symbol; address default=1 (for Delta it's 78).

Lutz, does this mean that an MS plugged into a v2.0 CS will update to this version (1.7)?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the helpful information.

So, Lutz, if I don't have a CS how can I get my 4 MS' updated? Do I merely return them through my dealer? Is that something acceptable to Maerklin? Thanks.

Hi Larry,

There is no need nor any offer that I'd know of from Märklin to return your MS's. If your dealer accepts such a "trade in" then it is up to him.

But when your (authorized) dealer has updated his demo station CS there should be no problem anymore getting always the latest loco database into your MS. Same thing applies for any new shipped starter set containing a CS he might have received from June on - any new or updated CS will do the job.

As said - my MS's databases contain already the latest version of the updated CS, which still may not yet be exactly the same as delivered with the formal update starting next month.

Another example of the update database are the two digital cranes (#46715, #46716). Although there are no icons for the three movement functions due to the known MS limitations (with the CS you will get nice new turning, beam lift and hook symbols), is now very easy and straightforward to operate these models: the addresses are already properly set (77) and f1-f3 correspond to the function as described in the instruction booklet; even the arrow symbols match properly the movement directions (i.e. right/left = right turn/left turn or up/down). For #46716, at least the horn symbol is displayed (key 6).

Yes, David.

The known process that any MS that is connected to a CS will be updated if it is less than the CS database level remains unchanged.

The exact CS and database versions will be known once the update is formally released (so, it could be 2.xxx and even 1.8). From that point on any new SW and database updates can be remotely downloaded into the CS, which makes as well updates of MS databases much easier.

The update message window will as well contain some different text; something like "a new mfx device is being updated" instead of the current "Mobile Station being updated" - which might give you already the hint that there is still more "mfx stuff" to come in the foreseeable future. wink

Can a new MS update an older one if the older one is plugged into the second socket on the "ugly box"? Just thinking I might well keep an eye out for another MS with the 1.7 database if this is possible.

Hi Matt,

that would be a nice feature, but unfortunately it is not possible. Only the CS has enough CPU resources for this task.
