Just visited SB-Modellbau's site and discovered they have filled their intent of making replacement motor kits for some Märklin compact c-sines: the VT08.5 and the BR01. I don't think that the BR01 needs any replacement at all, but for the VT08.5 it may be a good idea.

There's also a new replacement motor kit for Brawa's new BR56 which may also be interesting.

Dear Luis-san,

Thank you very much for your good information!
I'm very disappointed with the running characteristics of those new C-sinus models. [V]

Yes, BR01 is at least better than VT08, but it is not enough for me.

So I will try the kits.[:I]

Hajime-san,

Just had a look at your site, which most unfortunately I can't figure out a single word, but does have nice pictures!

I'm also tempted at a few more of their kits indeed, having already installed two: one in a 3611 BR 012 and one in a turntable.

Let me know about the VT08.5 if you go ahead, since I'm very interested in this one too.

Luís

PS: interestingly, learning japanese as a hobby has been growing here in Portugal! Maybe I'll join the ranks to read your interesting site!

BR01 agreed. For both, but especially the VT08.5 I wonder how many orders they may get in spite of the still active warranty periods. If a model doesn't perform as expected, it can (and should) be claimed to be corrected.

As an update, I just ordered Sb-modellbau kits for:

Märklin BR80, for my lovely 2666 set;

Märklin BR261, for my 37654;

Märklin E19, for my 3469;

Brawa BR56, for my 40105. Despite being a brand new lok, I just don't like the motors in any of them, Brawa has not lived up to the high price by inserting a cheap motor in an otherwise extraordinary model.

I sent an email to the company requesting information about which motor kit I could use for a Trix Express V200 locomotive which I am converting to run on my current layout. Haven't heard back from them yet. Will most likely also order a replacement motor for the transfer table at the same time.

Sure thing. Until all are completed, it may take a couple of years though [xx(].

My time is growing shorter by the day...

Hi, Luís-san,

I tried the kit for VT08.5.
As much better than the original motor, I'm very satisfied.

Hajime-san,

Excellent! I actually sent my VT08 back to Märklin (the BR61 HWZ will follow it tomorrow) for correction of its well known defects.

I'm hoping they replace the 2nd gen csine with a SDS and its driver....

I don't quite understand what you did with the decoder, though... BTW, have you checked https://www.marklin-user...ault.aspx?g=posts&t=7659 ?

I just ordered my first SB conversion kit. it will be for a lima SBB Bn 4/4 diesel switcher loco. The engine doesn't look too bad actually, but I will replace the plastic hand rails with metal ones I will have to make myself. It will also need to be made digital (sound maybe if there's something similar like a Br290, and add the slider.
I don't expect the kit to arrive for a while, as they were temporarily out of stock.
I also see the sell motorizing kits for the various Kibri track maintenance vehicles - I will almost definitely be ordering these!

thanks for putting me onto these Luis.

I must be operating in a totally different world. It takes all I can do to keep all my new and converted loks running much less converting them to new motors.I also don't feel the need to change them but accept them for what they are. It just goes to show that there are many different ways to view our hobby. I am impressed with your efforts to reach a higher level.

Hello to all:

I recently purchased the SB-Modellbau's replacement motor for the Marklin transfer table (TT). WOW!! It is now whisper quiet and use of the TT is actually a pleasant audible experience!

The retro fit took quite a bit of work. Basically, the old motor is removed, the molded plastic motor holders arms (below the "floor" of the TT control shack) need to be totally removed (speedy work with a Dremel tool) and the new motor is wired and mounted into place. Mouting the new motor is a bit of a challange (need to get just the correct orientation to get the optimal torque). I found that the best way to hold the motor in place is with some "Liquid Nails" (which prevents lateral movement) and the "floor" of the control shack screwed down tight (which prevents up/down motion).

I control the TT with an IB-Switch/k84 and found that the motor speed is too fast (and it might skip track sections). So I slow it down with a 120 ohm resistor to the TT motor power supply. Perfecto!

A neat project and nice upgrade to and otherwise not very friendly model.
