I try to connect a three way turnout 24630 with the Viessmann 5211 Solenoid accessories decoder and my 6021-6040 Maerklin Digital Layout.
I follow the instructions and connect as following:

• Each of the three (two blue and one yellow) cables of the turnout control mechanism (74460) is connected to the red-brown-yellow sockets of the 5211 decoder.
• The red and brown sockets on bottom left of the decoder are connected to the red and brown cables of the 6021 Control Unit.
• Finally: The red – brown and E-sockets on top left of the 5211 decoder are connected as following:
Red cable is connected to E-socket.
Brown cable is connected to E-socket.
No other external decoders are in place and therefore the cables are blind, thus not connected to other decoders etc.

When I switch on power I get some sort of a short circuit. Can anyone help?

Hello,
something seems to be very wrong with your instruction. Each of the three should be connected to one of the 4 triplets red-YELLOW-GREEN.
Red and brown of the 5211 to the digital source (6021), top or bottom doesn't matter. E is connected either to red, OR to an extra power source if you want to save expensive digital power.

Lars,
You are right with the three connected to one of the 4 triplets red-yellow-green. This is exactly what I do.
Red and brown of the 5211 to the 6021, Ok! (in my case bottom).
E connected to red? Same red connected to 6021?

Yes, E may be connected with red (from 6021), which makes it work exactly as k83.
