Hi all,
Before I started in Marklin 18 months ago, I purchased a nice looking 2 axle gerpackung, or baggage car at a model train show in Sydney.
It was HO, and lettered underneath is PREfO or PREFO. I have never heard of this brand and was wondering if other modellers have come across it.
The wagon was lettered DR, so I thought it may be from the eastern part of Germany. It has the NEM coupler pocket, and close coupler mechanism for going around curves, so I have used the latest Marklin couplers to good effect. It appears to have insulated wheel set for 2 rail.
I would be interested to hear of other examples.
regards
Kimball

Prefo is indeed a former DDR toy company (different kinds, but primarily famous for their slot cars) and now again in business with model trains.

You can find a number of their product offerings here: http://www.modelleisenbahn.com/soli/soli_131.htm

They have an own, unfortunately since quite some time unfilled, homepage.

I bought four PREFO cars at my previous MMR dealer many years ago. I cannot remember when.

Nice models of old Norwegian tank cars. I do not know if they are accurate models, but still I think they look OK.

They had road no. 500 125, by some strange reason the same road number as Märklin 4776, which I think was supposed to be a model of the same prototype, but looking quite different.

Prefo 126122, with close coupler pockets.

Thankyou Lutz and Intruder.
Nice photo of tank car.
I can photograph the gerpackungwagen, but as I am away, it will be another 2 weeks before I can post it.
Here is a link to the site mention by Lutz, showing a Prefo kit of a tram car. http://www.modelleisenba.../b.php?a=39501&h=131
