I have five original Märklin O Gauge catalogs with the following characters in the lower left hand corners:

TN 0849 st
I 09 50 st
L 10 51 st
YN 09 52 st
M 0853 st o.P.

Am I correct in my belief that these are the print dates and that they are respectively:

August 1949
September 1950
October 1951
September 1952
August 1953

What do the letters at the beginning stand for?
What do the small letters "st" stand for?
On the last one, what does the "o.P." mean?
Thanks.

Hi,

the large letters are standing for the number printed:

TN=10000
I=9000
L=8000
YN=30000
M=4000

The small letters code the company which printed them.

o.P. means "ohne Preise" = w/o prices.

Markus,

Thanks, you are always a fount of knowledge!

Here is the cover of the 1949 O Gauge catalog:

My apologies, my scanner cut off the edges. I will try to update my scanner software and provide a better picture. The 1950 through 1953 catalogs use the same picture and are also in black and white, but have much less printing on the cover.

As soon as I get my scanner working better, I will provide a picture of one of the later date catalogs.

Incidentally, if someone would translate the information on the 1949 cover, it would be much appreciated.

I corrected the scanner problem and rescanned the 1949 cover. Also, I added the back of the 1949 catalog which shows a really neat HO Gauge layout!

Next, I put the information above into the page and scanned the front of the 1950 "O" Gauge catalog.

It is interesting to me that the 1950 through 1953 catalogs omitted much of the printing that was on the 1949 catalog.

Also, several items offered in 1949 were no longer offered in 1950.

Let me know what you think of the information and especially if you want me to add anything.

Thanks.
