There is a large layout in the vicinity, in Merklingen, about 45km south of Göppingen. I haven't been there yet, but hope to go soon. I haven't been to the new museum yet either, but 2 years ago I was at the old location and it did have a nice selection of items. The new museum shop is supposed have an even greater selection. There is a store in Göppingen called the Die Drehscheibe, but I was rather surprised at the lack of Märklin items it had. The prices of the museum shop were actually quite reasonable so you might be able to find a few good items there.

Hallo there,

the Merklingen layout is worth a visit, absolutely!

In Goeppigen "Die Drehscheibe" does not anymore exist. If I am right, its employers have been absorbed into the new Maerklin museum shop.
Actually at the new museum shop itself you will find all Maerklin products in catalogue, but for the UVP suggested Maerklin prices: i.e. not very good deals...indeed! But do not be discouraged, by the museum you will have a look in the so called "Fundgrube" room, and there you will find a lot of articles for bargain prices!!![:p]

In Goeppigen itself there are two other interesting shops where often you can find very good deals or special offers:

Korb - Rau Inh. Hermann Rau, 73033 Göppingen, Poststr.

Elser Spielwaren GmbH, 73033 Göppingen, Geislingerstr.

The two shops are just in the city centre, and both have a pretty good assortment of Maerklin material.
Since a couple of years Elser has been selling second hand items too.

Moreover, you can search in this Maerklin webpage and find all shops in the vicinity of the places you are travelling through:

Enjoy your trip!!!
