I started my Marklin experience with a Maxi Starter Kit. I am now thinking of going digital - starting with the premium starter kit for gauge 1(55031). What I would like to know is :

1. Can I use the track from my old Maxi/Gauge 1 set-up or is that now redundant?

2. Is it possible to convert old Maxi and Gauge 1 trains to digital.

I hope some one can help this novice hobbyist.

The tracks are the same, no matter if it's digital or not, so the tracks will work. Maxi and Gauge 1 trains can be converted to digital but I don't know the details.

Robert,

I started my 1-scale addiction with the 55031 start set, and consider it a great value. However, the locomotives and three-axle passenger cars from the Premium Start Set will not negotiate your 600mm radius curves from your Maxi start set.

The trains in the Premium Start Set already are digital. There are conversions for Maxi and older 1-gauge engines. Only the very old (pre 1980's) 1-scale locos pose some problem in conversion...

Robert - Welcome to the forum,

The Maxi engines have a Delta decoder onboard, so you should be able to run them in Digital too..

Carsten, you're of course welcome too... <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
