Hi,

I'm just getting back into this and have become confused on the different formats, please help.
I currently have the original digital(motorola) controls, I see this new central station and would like to intergrate this into my soon to be built 4x8 size K track layout. Do I have to install new decoders? I want to update the locs for sound while I'm at it. I have 5 Locs that all have the motorola decoders.
Also, the K83 decoders for the turnouts and 72xx signals, are they necessary if I start with the central unit?

Thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil,

The Central Station is compatible with (almost) all other Märklin digital locos and decoders. You don't have to update K83's, 72xx signals or locs to use them with a CS.

Hi Phil,

I've started back in 1985 with my first Märklin digital equipment (at that time the #6020 central control, #6035 drive control and #3654 locomotive - a DB BR120). I can still control today any of the latest Märklin models and I can still use this and any other models since then with my new CS or MS.

I can still use my old #6015 boosters with the new CS and once the announced update is out, I will be able to still use all my other #6021 control units, #6040 keyboards, #6030 memory and even the #6050 interface. Same is true for any k83/k84 switch controls and the s88 feedback module.

So, product compatibility assurance and thus retaining "value" for more than 20 years now - not very easy to beat!!!
