The HAG virus is just as contagious as the Märklin variant,if you ask me[:0]winkbiggrinbiggrin

Considering the fact that many of the HAG designs are comparatively old they do a splendid job.
The motor and drivegear setup reminds me of former Märklin models with their three pole LFCM engine.The big difference being that HAG's have rollerbearings and are very well made.
I've got a few AC models and I am really enthusiastic about them.No contact problems whatsoever and the engine runs very smooth,almost as good as the more modern Faulhabers and C-sines.

HAG locos are a bit difficult to obtain though,partly caused by their policy of making limited amounts of their models.
Another thing is that there are still many analog AC models around.From my experience you can easily get confused and may end up buying a non digital variant!

Hope I didn't bore you with all this information.Got a bit carried away by my enthusiasm[:I].

Hey Guus! No worries, no apology necessary. I feel the same way about the Swiss models! [:p]

I'm going to do my best and heed your advice to be wary as to what I buy (I have been a bit confused also looking at their items and which are digital and which are not). Do you have any with sound? Just wondering if you or anyone else have any comments on the sound quality on HAG loks.

I bought a 39420 SBB Re 4/4 10015 at my MMR dealer today.

Very nice locomotive.

By the way, did you know that there is a station anouncement "hidden" under f1 in this loco?
A nice lady says, in German: "please enter, the doors closes by themselves, careful at the departure"

It runs very smoothly on my floor layout, even over the curved c-track switches.

One very special thing: The "motor number" on a sticker under the loco is S6070205.
Splitted:
S6 = in this case no meaning (normally C-sinus and produced 06)
07 = this year
0205 = todays date, which also happens to be my wife's birthday. Funny!

Thanks for the report Svein. I don't think that I have heard past reports about "hidden" sounds. I really like this lok but will wait a bit for more reports before I get it. (Then again, I've been known to be a bit anxious on these items in the past biggrinbiggrin!!)

Hi Svein, congratulations!

That's a pleasant surprise indeed [:0]
I assumed it had a signal horn pcb only - no full mfx sound decoder!
Did you have a chance to open it and check the decoder and speaker?

Could there have been a version change, as I understood from Lutz' intial post that there is no sound decoder confused

This loco has no sound decoder, but it has a special "multisound" pcb. It is located underneath the main interface pcb, adjacent to the decoder.

Two of the four pcb wires are used to activate the corresponding sound signal; they have the known Märklin color codes, i.e. brown/red for connection to AUX1 and brown/green for AUX2.

It is correct - you can activate the DB station departure announcement via AUX1; it can be mapped to any function key - btw: the new DB E10.3 (#39120) has the same.

The reason for not making it user available with this loco is quite obvious; it never ran on German rail (other locos did/do - likely some of the next coming models).

The CS/MS configuration of my Re4/4-I for example looks like this:

I do always configure the "shunting gear" with my mfx models, if it hasn't yet been done by Märklin (usually combined with the corresponding shunting lights, if possible).

Then I don't have to post photos tonight.
As I have heard announcements in something quite like "normal" German spoken in for instance Zürich Hauptbahnhof, I think the German announcement is OK.

I do the same as you, Lutz, make separate functions for shunting gear and acc/brake delay. In case of this loco, I selected the other speaker symbol.
For the constant functions I use the speaker symbol with the notes, without the notes for momentarily functions.

I like this locomotive very much!

No I haven't Brian,that is to say not yet wink.

The decoders are made by ESU,so I presume the sounds are recorded from the original locomotive.
