Marklin made the 3477 digital model of the rail zeppelin in 1995; can anyone tell me how many they made? How much would one cost? TIA.

I have both the 3477 (new in box, never been out or run on a track) and a 3077 that I won on Ebay from Japan. The 3077 was nasty and dirty from years of use and neglect. But now she is lean and clean and runs like a champ! Might be getting a second 3477 in a month or so that is new in the box as well.

Hello Bob R-

If you ever want to part with one of your 3077/3477 Zepplins- please let me know. I posted a "want ad" for one prior to your post in this thread.

Sorry for the hijack...

Jim

Thanks for the link Gert- I am not too sure, but I don't think any of those auctions are capable of being shipped to the US.

There are also a bunch of 3077 on there too! Much better selection on Ebay.de- guess that makes sense!

Bio,

It never hurts to ask them. I have won auctions on Ebay in Germany and never had a problem. Actually got over to the USA a lot quicker than some of the stuff I won on Ebay in the USA. Plus you might get it at a better price, the shipping really isn't that bad.

Personnaly I think a 3477 is a better choice than a 3077.
AFAIK the 3477 has a better interior...and the aluminum two blade prop looks better than the orange 4 blade prop [^]
Both are prototypical! http://home.hetnet.nl/~s...mages/zeppelin_proto.jpg

I am not sure about the benefit of the engine though, as to be read on

The 3477 was production in 1995-6 silver and again in 1988 silver, 'the fastest Reichsbahner'.

For Clarification:
The 3477 in the Kolls is a special edition. There were many more 3477's produced than that. The reason they are so highly sought today is that they are the only Zeppelin that left the factory with a decoder. Most owners hang on to them as they are cool and don't need the slightly tricky conversion to go digital that a 3077 would. (not to mention the cool chrome paint)

the 3477 was Delta though...at least mine was.
I made a engine conversion an upgrade to digital anyway.

Thanks for all the info, and the welcome Smile

I actually have three of the 60th anniversary 3477's, which are Delta as far as I can tell, but I have never had room to set up a place to run them (I had this grand plan to model a future moon-based rail system, called LunaRail, and the rail zeppelins were utterly PERFECT for the idea, visually if not really).

It's going to be hard to let go of them; I had planned on eBay, but this group, IMHO, warrants first shot at 'em. I'll post on the "for sale" section.

I also have the 0230, M-track, and 0231, K-track, miniature model planning sets if anyone is interested in one or both of those.

Thanks again!
