Hi,

not at all. TRIX uses wheels which run only on Trix-rails. Marklin-locos in a Trix surroundig produce short-cuts. TRIX from 1953 is also DC.

Short answer is no.

If one is ambitious or wants to make it work for personal reasons then yes it can be done but the cost would definetly be higher than buying an older Marklin version on Ebay or a location that sells used Marklin equipment.

I have done two locomotives so far for personal reasons (they were my father's and now passed down to me), but the amount of work to fit a pickup shoe and a decoder is quite challenging. For any locomotive which has the wheels tied together (steam locomotives) then the positioning of the replacement wheels is very critical and required special tools to do it.

Also the availability of parts from the Marklin spare parts selection my be very limited or not available for certain models.

They are 3-rail DC, with power pickup from one outer rail and the center rail. This means you can drive 2 trains separately with 2 trafos (even 3 if you use catenary). An innovative system in its' time, but now outdated.

If you want to use a Trix express loco on Märklin 3-rail track you need to put a decoder in the loco or a direction relay that can feed a DC motor. A decoder is the easiest choice, even if you want to run analog. It handles the AC from the track and gives DC to the motor. Not sure, however what the wheels and pickup shoe look like, and if they run on modern C-tracks.

It doesn't work on C-track, the flang of the wheel will rest on the rail tie and raise to wheel slightly off the rail. The wheels have to be replaced.
