Thanks Ira for the information. As a 7.0 owner I checked the website and downloaded the release notes and the demo... Actually I can do my thing fine with version 7.0, so I don't think I will update. |

I love wintrack, but unfortunately they still don't have a Tomix track library. I know I could create one, but I'm using the old fashioned pen and paper trick (after which I use Maya to model everything in 3d ;)) |

I have tried Wintrack version 8 demo for about a week now. It's just as good as 7, but only a few small improvements over it. If you wanted to get Wintrack buy version 8, but if you already have version 7 there isn't really any reason to upgrade to 8 unless you really want the latest and greatest. Ira |

Question , Ira. I have tried to download the demo version of WinTrack in English. No luck - do you know if it is available? |

When it comes to compatability with Vista, it is really programs that integrate with the OS that are of concern (CD Burrning software, Virus protection, CD/DVD emulators such as Deamon Tools)

well, partially.. there's plenty programs that really don't do all too well on vista (including RTM) |

Hal- Unfortunately no, the demo is only available in German. If you click on the English flag below the left hand menu you can get a page that says download demo, but once you click on that it takes you to a form that you must fill out for a password, I haven't bothered to do that, so maybe it's possible to get one that way I don't know. Just be aware that the clicking on the English flag takes you to another company's website, it may be affiliated with Wintrack, but it isn't Wintrack. Ira |

Ira/Maxi - thanks for the responses! I've been thru the password routine - some of the intro language is in English but the demo comes up in German. I will try with V7 - it will certainly be good enough to learn something about the program.
Trying to plan the details of a fairly large layout (+/-100 square feet/about 8 square meters - final shape under consideration) is not easy for this enthusiastic amateur. A computer-based aid would help tremendously -thus my interest.
