Hi: I have seen some references to "Intellibox Software v2.0" out there. Does anyone know what this is, where documentation can be found, where it can be downloaded, etc...

Thanks.--MM

There's been talk about that for the past 1.5 to 2 years already, its not out, not available, no documentation, no official release dates, nor even whether or not they're really working on it.

I did read a post once by a supposed Uhlenbrock programmer who said it would be out "soon", but that post was dated sometime in the summer of 2005.

Thanks for the reply. One other related set of questions:

1. How do you find your Intellibox Software Version #?
2. If you are not current (v1.55), how do you load the software into the Intellibox without bricking it?

Thanks.--MM

1. Look it up in Intellibox main menu.
2. Load it for Uhlenbrocks site to a PC, connected to the IB. Read instructs. Start the loading program. What is meant with 'bricking' ?

Definition of bricking:

When you upgrade the firmware of a device usuccessfully, the device is often completely unusable as it cannot be downgraded or further upgraded unless you can return it to the manufacturer. Thus you have converted your box into something functionally equivalent to a brick.

Also, you have bricked off access to the device.

Hope this definition has enriched your experience.--MM

Thanks.
I'm not 100 % sure, but I do think that Uhlenbrock/Stefano thought about this. I don't think you can destroy the loading routine, and downgrading is possible. There is an extra safety as well, if the software gets into a state where operation is not possible, you should establish a short between two connectors at the back to tell it should load software from the computer. Hope this is written in the inscructions, because I don't remember details.

The OLD truth is that loading is easiest done under DOS, not Windows. But there should be an XP loader available nowadays too.

as per IBX: "...Uhlenbrock folks last week in Koeln at the Modellbau
Koeln fair. No news regarding new software version 2.0. They said "Not
this year". Maybe first half of 2007. This is frustrating."

I just checked the web: http://www.uhlenbrock.de/3/index.htm and the current version of the software as per the upgrades is v1.55. Sorry, this seems to be a slow process. However, I am stuck at an even earlier version as I have been able to communicate with my IB for a while through the serial interface (see related posting).--MM
