I just picked up an old delta 6603 decoder (but new in box) yesterday at a show. It had everything including noise chokes except for the instructions.

I have searchd the net and this site all over and I still have not found instalations instructions. There are a few dead links out there that most likly had the info need but that the way the inter net goes.
The most I have found is the conversion to be used with a DC motor. and how to get rid of flickering lites and dip switch setings.
I have an exta hamo magnet but I don't know if I need to use it. any info would help Smile

Hello dntower85

This is how the 6603 DELTA decoder is connected:

Red wire = pick-up shoe
Brown wire = ground in locomotive chassis

Green wire = motor magnetic coil forward direction
Blue wire = motor magnetic coil reverse direction
Black wire = motor cover, metal brush, via noise reducer

Gray wire = front lamp
Yellow wire = rear lamp

Your extra Hamo magnet is not required for the 6603.
If you want to get rid of the flickering light you have to make yourself an extra wire form the cathode end of one of the rectifier diodes on the printed circuit board and insulate the bulb sockets form the loco chassis.
Connect your new wire (actually +) to one end of the bulb, the gray or yellow to the other end. You better then use 22 Volt bulbs. I normally use 28 Volt bulb to reduce the intencity i bit.

Hello again.

Some additional information (which I forgot)

If you connect the new wire for flicker free light, please put in a 2,7 volt Zenerdiode in series with your wire. Connect it "the wrong way", the cathode should point towards the PCB. You can also connect this wire/Zenerdiode to the black motor wire, as this also comes from the "plus side" of the rectifier diodes.

The Zenerdiode is required to keep the decoder memory (anti Alzheimer) at red light stop, as long as a 1,5 Kohm resitor is installed parallell to the signal output.

Please see the parts on the table, which is the removed 6603 and motor during converting to the 60923 kit with a 60760 decoder. I'm sorry that it is out of focus.
