Hello,

I searched online for house. Please help.

A friend of mine inherited a marklin locomotive 55581 for gauge 1. I can hardly find any info online how to run such a locomotive. The tracks are diffrent from h0

He hopes that he can run it with ms2
But I own a cs3 + with 60101 and can assist If it doesn't work with ms2

Does anyone have a video or info what we need to purchase to test this locomotive? And how we Connect all together

But we need instruction how to Connect ms2 ( preferable) to the gauge 1 tracks.

Thanks

You really need a CS3 to run 1 gauge - the plug packs used by the MS2 can only comfortably do one loco at a time.

To use a MS2, you need a track box to plug the MS2 in to -> https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/60114

and power pack to power it up -> https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/66360

You also the clamps that connect the two wires from the track box to the track - https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/59096

It is two rail - one side gets the red wire and the other gets the black one.

With a CS3+ you only need the clips, but you might need the extra large power pack if you want to run more than one loco. This one is 110Va and replaces the one you currently use for H0 -> https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/60151

He only has one loco 55581, and as a track box marklin 60116 for ms2. Do You think thats enough to run one loco ?

And one last question, does it matter how i connect the 2 wires ?

Thanks,

It does not matter which side you select for red, but if you go down the track of adding extra feed wires then you must be consistent with the side that you choose for red. Black, of course, goes on the other rail.

You can try with the H0 track box, if the loco does not need much current, then you might be okay. Make sure that the lights and sounds are off, when you first try the loco. I would be careful using the telex couplers as they draw a lot of current. I really don't know the differences between the track boxes other than one is specifically for 1 Gauge.

My FD uses a 6021 or eCoS to run her gauge 1 and maxi trains. You can't just have one train. Crying
