I’ve been using Rocrail for 6 months or so rather successfully (perhaps simplistically) and am currently expanding my layout with some older M track. I have need to create a virtual sensor to trigger a “enter” event for a block but seem to be at a loss to figure out the right approach. I want to be able to manually click the sensor on screen to trigger the enter event. Or should I instead purchase another physical sensor to add to the layout? I have space on one of my S88’s that I could do so but would prefer the virtual route.

Thanks, John
John

I think I may have found the answer to my own question but would love for confirmation from someone...I just discovered the menu option "Simulate Sensors" under the main menu topic "Automatic." It appears that I can mouse click any sensor to trigger the associated action with that menu option selected. Am I correct?

Hi John
Rocrail allowzs you to have one, two or three sensors for one block so no constrains there.
You may also "drive" a sensor or inhibit it under some external conditions
I have used this on my turntable to simulate 48 positions on my turntable (which was only managing 24 positions
On another instance, to allow precise uncoupling I added a sensor for precise operation but which had to be disabled in normal operation.
Here is the result (with Rocrail of course)

Cheers
Jean

By virtual you mean it does not relate to an actual circuit? There is no difference in Rocrail, it's just a sensor and you can click on the sensor to trigger it manually. So is that what you want to do then and all good - otherwise I feel you need to provide more information about what you want to do?

The brief answer is "yes".

You can add sensor elements to the track plan that have no physical manifestation on the actual layout. I suppose they might be a called "virtual sensors", although I have seen the expression being used for something different. These sensors work just the same as the regular ones except that you have to click them with your pointer device (unless you write some XML to engage them, but that is a different story).

Yes that is what I want to do and when I found the right menu option it worked as I wanted.

Thanks.
