A little while ago, I had a short circuit on my layout of my own (accidental) doing.
I've mentioned this in another thread re Piko decoders.

But earlier this evening, I went into 'the room' and started noting down the most
frequently used functions on the 'lok cards' - again mentioned in my post about my layout.

I hadn't twigged before, but 5 locos that were sitting on my diesel depot were not now
registered on my MS2. I took them off the layout, moved to the programming track,
and ALL bar the Marklin loco failed to register with mfx (and they were all mfx compatible).
Fortunately they all registered under the DCC protocol and all sounds & light functions were fine -
unlike the Piko decoders mentioned above.

So what is it about mfx on non-Marklin decoders that make them so suscepible?
