I had a blown speaker in a T5 (Brawa 40003) It has a ESU decoder that supports DCC (at least that is the only protocol that the MS2 is picking up for me). The loco has a box, but no documenation - The Brawa site has a manual at -> https://www.brawa.de/fil...ungen/40000_BRAWA_BA.pdf

Needless to say, the original speaker is open circuit so I can't check the impedance using a multimeter.

Based on the ESU site and that it is a 23mm diameter round speaker, I ordered a 8 Ohm 0.5w speaker. When first installed it worked fine, but a buzzing sound starts after a few seconds on the motor sound. All the other sounds (e.g. whistle and rattling grates) do not have the buzzing sound, but they are loud. I now suspect that the speaker is the wrong impedance.

So, does any one have any thoughts about the correct impedance for this loco?

Hmm, do you have any idea when the loco was produced? That may give a clue if it was in the Loksound V3 era, which would be 100 ohm.

Do you have an ESU decoder tester? Put the decoder on that with the switch in the 100 ohm position and see if it behaves differently.
