So far I have a starter set BR78, and I was looking for a smaller tender engine in affordable price. This BR38 came across me on eBay.
I received the loco, the stand in the original box but nothing else. I am missing all documentation, instructions. I was not able to find it on Marklin.de either (maybe I was looking at the wrong place). Just unboxed it, not tested yet.

Please share any info about this loco, or experience if you have any. Judging by the 4 digit product number, this is probably an early model, and the sound decoder is probably fairly basic. I am thinking that this loco would be a canidate for an ESU Loksound upgrade, or maybe even a smoke generator as well.

I have a few 3 axle compartment coaches (see my recent post: Replacement for 5605 light kit), and the plan is to have these coaches for this loco. If I understand from the interwebs correctly, BR38 with the tub tender is a later epoch (as opposed to the original smaller tender) so the 3 axle coaches might not be epoch-perfect for this version of the locomotive.
