Hello, After, my Father-in-law passed away, we cleared out a storage unit he was renting. In it, we found a small Märklin train set. We don't desire to keep the set, but we are not sure what we have or it's value. Can someone help us? The set includes 12 curve track pieces making up a circle. It also includes an engine and 5 others cars (3 flatbed, one Shell tanker and one caboose). The engine has 232043 on the bottom and all say Marklin West Germany on it. There is also a speed controller and it everything works. Looking to find out how best to describe what I have and answer basic questions I have received already, like what year was this made? Also hoping to understand what I should ask for in terms of price. Any help would be great! Thanks, Corbin

Hello Corbin and welcome. I see you have there a nice DB diesel rail bus set. I don't know if it came with freight cars or is missing the original locomotive. Nice condition. Only one mar visible. The frame and wheels look good. I'm guessing late 1950s or early 60s. Careful with that old transformer though. Not the safest.

Hi Corbin You are dealing with a 3016 Schienenbus produced in the late 70s (3 headlights, no roofdome, no decals, dark red paint Plastik body wagons with Relex coupling of the same period A loop of 5100 M Track with a current feed A transformer which ressembles a 13470 AG (25 W transformer produced around 1947) definitely much older than the rest and I hope it has been revised / power cord changed to remove a serious danger of using it.
Value? The 3016 Schienenbus (VT95) has been produced in HUGE quantities from 1955 (ref DB800) until 1990 or so (3016). It has an excellent but simple design and can be found in Germany for approx 20€ (starts from 17.50€ on ebay Germany) So the value is sentimental as many kids started with it The transformer value (USE AS A DECORATION ONLY) is between 60 to 90€
