Help with missing functions - Windows Central Station (for CS2)

Hello, I have been using the Central Station software for Windows for about 10 years now. What I am now experience is that some loco functions is not transfered from the CS2. Otherwise it still works perfectly. The version I run is 4.2.1 it seems. I have no clue what is the latest as I cannot find it on the Märklin WEB-site anymore. Is there a work around for this? The last loco I tried was 39686. And F11 and F13 is unavailable from the Windows CS,but works perfectly from the CS2 itself. Kind regards Jarle

Marklin stopped supporting Central Station some years ago. Some of the functionality remains, but some does not.
You no longer get a full interface on your device and it will not be getting better as the CS software changes. I use it occasionally, but with the understanding that not everything will work anymore. I liked that interface but they have moved on to browser based software, at least on the CS3. |
Regards,
Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |

Hi Jarle Welcome to this great forum. Here a Märklin fan from Paris France. What you experience has (I think) nothing to do with your CS2 but rather with the MAPPING of fonctions in the loco where you have these disappearing fonctions One possibility is to make a reset of your loco that will (I hope) restore all factory-installed fonctions The other possibility is to work / modify the MAPPING of your loco (with a Märklin decoder) Mapping of fonctions- install the loco on the programming track - set the CS2 into edit mode for this loco (blue screen) - select the fonction you want to edit or - add a new fonction (sound, light, telex, smoke, etc) This is only a small idea of all the things you can do with mapping Limits to adding new fonctions- you can add any number of fonctions within the limits of your decoder (32 for the recent one) - the fonction may call sound fonctions BUT only of the ones already programmed in your decoder (sound 1 to sound x - x usually like 20) - the fonction may call any OUTPUT (AUX1 to AUX4, FRONT, REAR lights but will only be limited to the WIRED ONES - the OUTPUTS may only have ONE type of intensity and modulation - the fonction may be assigned ANY type of icon and be configured as a switch, an impulse or as a timed fonction. So, in short this is just great possibilities Cheers Jean |

Thanks for your answer. Then it's not me only. I would like to try a workaround as it seems it is newer types of icons that doesn't work. I will change them on the CS2 to some known old ones and reload the Windows version. Is this far fetched or could it work? As information also want to add that I just tried the "RemoteCS2" on Android and the same two functions were not imported to the app either.

The software is not available for download anymore. But can still be installed used by those who have the installer .exe file. The CS2 (hardware) is till supported as you say. You can still reach the CS2's built in WEB-server, but as far as I know you cannot control it as you do with the Central Station software. And this has never been possible. You can add CV's and loco pictures, backup, read log files, but that's about it. Kind regards Jarle

When Marklin stopped supporting Central Station they no longer kept the CS2/3 software fully compatible with Central Station. As they added new features to the CS2/3 they did not need to make them work with a software product they have abandoned. It happens all the time as software systems evolve. It has nothing to do with a browser, just the dedicated Central Station app, which still works but not fully. Hope that makes it clearer. Marklin has told us about this, but did not make a big deal of it. |

Jim

Hello all and thanks for answering! Now I have tested: Changing the function icon to an old well known one WORKS!!! Both Windows Central Station and the RemoteCS2 app for android imports the functions now and can be turned on and off. Look at F13 for Di3 and compare with the original post. We learn something new every day :-) Kind regards Jarle
