Hi everyone, I'm slowly replacing the Marklin couplings with Hornby magnetic couplings - see my previous post about these couplings.
I'm having a problem with the Marklin 37618 Baltimore & Ohio Locomotive. On page 26 of the manual it shows that the coupling is removed by removing the screw, however, there's an icon showing the coupling has a NEM coupling. Is this an error or is it possible to install a NEM socket ?

Couplers with NEM socket definitely exist for the F7. This model shows them: https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/39623The manual does not provide a part number however. You can contact service(at)maerklin.de to see if these are available and whether you would also need to change the bogie exterior too. Regards Mike C

Today I decided to have a go at installing a NEM socket. It was a very delicate operation however I managed to do it, but it wasn't pretty and no-one will notice it. I installed the magnetic couplers and they work really well. On the first trip around the layout one of the carriage's corners clipped a signal post and the carriage uncoupled but didn't derail, which is something the Marklin couplings can't do. I'm really happy with these couplings and when funds become available I'll be getting more. Regards Greg |
