I have a couple Z-scale locos I would like to convert to DCC. I am done with analogue block control. I tried the Digitrax website but they don't appear to update their compatibility chart. Anyone know of shop in the US that I could call?

Thanks,
Roger

How about MU forum member Frank Daniels ('zscalehobo'), owner of the Z.Scale.Hobo MRR shop on the left coast?

Hello hope all is well.

I hope you find the information you are seeking.

You know there are a few other manufacturers of digital decoders. Velmo and D&H as well as Digitrax if they are still around. I don’t know if two of these are still valid sources. I thought I had bookmarked their site, but I have not been able to find them.

Trainini did a number of articles about digital modeling (DCC) some just about this topic in general. I think there were about five different topic starting in April 2018. Perhaps there might be something useful in their write up.

Here is a link for the first article.

https://www.trainini.de/...018/Trainini_2018-04.pdf

I believe the others were spread out through the rest of 2018, perhaps longer.

I am not at the level of digital yet, but like to think I will get there eventually. It will be interesting to hear what you discover.

Hope you find my post useful. Take good care.

Zme,
Thanks for all the info. I knew of Velmo but heard the don't sell in US because of electrical testing And regulation requirements. Can't hurt to ask I guess. I'll checkout D-H.

Regards,
Roger

Velmo are hard if not impossible to get in the US. Zmodell does make some decoders specifically for Marklin locos but most Marklin DCC conversions done in the US are not "drop in" but rather "DIY". You can learn a lot about what is available from Zscalehobo's website, Zscalemonster, or Tony's Trains. Also check out the Trainboard forum for related threads. But most "drop in" decoders here are for US brands like AZL and MTL. Digitrax, TCS, Zmodell, and ESU Locsound are all popular for Z scale conversions and available in the US.
