Hello all.

Was looking for some information on the release of Marklin Swiss Locomotives #3336 Geneve and 3338 Bern. What is the background of these? Was this a sort of collection of Swiss Cities? Where there any other cities represented? Just curious more than anything.

Thank you.
Norbert

Hello Norbert:

The 33/3636 and 33/3638 were released in 1991-92 as special models to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation (1291-1991). 3X36 was a red locomotive with the crest of the Canton Geneva (11425) and 3X38 was a green locomotive with the crest of the Canton Bern (Berne) (11414). This was the same locomotive as was modelled by Maerklin from 1964-1985 but in a more detailed and more to scale version.

The SBB Ae 6/6 carried the names and crests of Cantons (so-called Canton Loks 11401-11425) and the remainder carried names and crests of cities, towns and villages.

This baptism was also extended to the Re 6/6 introduced in the early 1970s. https://www.lokifahrer.c...BB/Re_6-6/SBB-Re_6-6.htm
As these machines have been taken out of service, it has now become common for other vehicles to be baptized with names and crests, including various trainsets (Stadler KISS, Giruno, Twindexx, RBDe, etc). The Re 460s also received names, but did not receive crests. The latest ones are the assorted Vectrons (193), many of which have been baptized for Swiss and International places.

Regards

Mike C
