Hi all
I have got a second hand marklin 34302 (Swiss Re 446). Now this is the old style delta locomotive. Now i have a MS2 and i would like to upgrade the controller to an MFX one with sound. Also not sure if it has a new high propulsion 5 pole motor. If not then would like to change that to. Can anyone suggest a suitable controller and motor kit.
Thanks

Your MS 2 is the controller. The decoder is in the locomotive. Marklin MFX msd3 for an electric loco. Or you can have a dealer load a custom sound file on the decoder.

The 34302 still had the ground for the motor and the lights through the chassis housing. If you plan on converting this locomotive to digital, you will require the appropriate digital conversion kit and will have to rewire the lights directly so that the ground (return) is no longer via the chassis. I have seen digital 37302 (6090 decoders) for 90 EUR and up. You could buy a digital model and then try to sell your 34302 for maybe 75 to recover some of your costs. The newer 37301 has a newer decoder with sound and has a different lightbulb, but is going for quite a bit more than the 90 EUR mentioned.
Good luck.

Hi Mike
Thanks i didnt know that. Also considering that a new decoder and etc would cost some money plus there is the effort of doing all the work your idea is much better.
