New ( to me) MFX loco 36810, not found when placed on programming track. Any work around? Using an MS 2. Loco not in database so can’t add manually.

You don't use or need a programming track to install an mfx loco. Normal running track.
Check your MS2 system status for the O.S. setting to be sure it is mfx, the software version is updated to 4.13 the latest, but it should recognize it even with prior versions. Update the track box too. Did you take it out of STOP?

Replace the battery. And is your MS2 updated? If so shouldn't the loco be in it?

I misread the description "version with storage batteries" to mean the model was battery powered and not the prototype. Sorry about that.

It's a tiny locomotive be sure (or make sure) that the wheels and slider are clean. Maybe the track too.

Hi Nibelungen
The key thing is to have the loco ALONE on the track as there are no programming track with an MS2 and its trackbox 60116 (only on CS2s and CS3s).

Lack of MFX registering
- it may be caused by a previously-interrupted registration (install the loco while power in ON)
- another possibility is MFX protocol is disabled EITHER on the loco or on the MS2

MS2 Manual (English from pdf page 25)
Manual

How to fix it?

- one simple way is to ask the MS2 to FIND the ONE loco on the track
- look at the video below 3:27 into it

The MS2 will explore all the addresses and protocols for you

Cheers
Jean

A vendor once recommended that applying a 9v battery between the slider and the wheels was a quick and easy way to check for continuity. I have received a used loco whose slider needed to be resprung as it was not making contact with the center rail.
